The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine is Hiring an Advancement Associate Near New York, NY

Founded in 1901, The Cathedral School is committed to academic excellence in a curriculum that integrates critical thinking, the arts, athletics, and leadership development. The School believes that the recognition and appreciation of differences in race, socioeconomic status, cultural or religious tradition, age, gender, ability, or sexual orientation enhance the individual's sense of identity and broaden respect for others. Through curriculum and informal school experiences, students at The Cathedral School come to understand the inherent value of all people and the importance of working towards equity in all that they do. The School's mission is brought to life on the idyllic 11-acre campus of the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in Morningside Heights on Manhattan's Upper West Side through seven Core Values: Cooperation, Courage, Integrity, Kindness, Passion for Learning, Respect, and Responsibility.
As an independent K-8 day school rooted in the Episcopal tradition, The Cathedral School of St. John the Divine educates students to become articulate, confident, and responsible citizens of the world through rigorous academics, innovative approaches to learning, and the nurturing of their aspirations in a diverse community of believers and nonbelievers. • Maintain Advancement database using Raiser's Edge software. Aggregate incoming constituent information to ensure records are accurately and regularly updated, including adding new constituents and maintaining biographical information. Collaborate with interdepartmental colleagues to ensure consistency across all School databases.
  • Receive, process, and input gifts and pledges into Raiser's Edge database. Generate cash receipts for Advancement and Business Offices and administer gift receipt and acknowledgement processes in a timely manner.
  • Partner with the Director of Institutional Advancement to create programming and touchpoints of engagement across parent and non-parent constituencies
  • Build relationships with alumni volunteers and donors. Field alumni inquiries and communications. Plan and produce alumni e-newsletter.
  • Assume responsibility for alumni features and Class Notes for Cathedral Magazine. Write additional articles as needed.
  • Participate in management of Advancement-related special events.

Qualifications
  • Related professional experience, preferably in educational/nonprofit fundraising.
  • A shared understanding of the mission of the School and a demonstrated commitment to our Core Values and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Able to understand, appreciate, and work with constituents across varied backgrounds and cultures, as well as all levels of employees, volunteers, Trustees, donors, and prospective donors.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and communication skills; an ability to clearly convey complex issues and maintain open communication channels with relevant stakeholders.
  • Excellent attention to detail, professional attitude, and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality around sensitive and private data.
  • High level of creativity and initiative, proven ability to work independently, good time-management skills, and ability to work within deadlines.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn database platforms (Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge preferred) and other event/fundraising software.
