The ideal candidate will have experience in a startup or similar small-firm environment, be wired to jump in and do what is needed, and be a finisher who can take execution across the finish line.

Most of the firm's historic sales of subscription-based and bespoke consulting services have been executed through existing professional networks, thought leadership and ad hoc content marketing. The firm is now focusing on moving beyond 1-1 personal-network based sales origination, and developing over the coming year a commercial sales engine. The candidate will work with management and practice area leads and operations team initially focusing on particular near-term goals including:

  • Executing marketing campaigns (content marketing, email, social media) for one subscription-based service ripe for growth due to market drivers, another ripe for targeting additional untapped market segments, and one expanding a legacy offering into a new geographic footprint where our networks are less robust.
  • Helping our practice area leads sharpen our web-site and other marketing copy to appeal to target market segments and channels for priority subscription-based services, consulting practice areas, and a pivot towards additional productized services.
  • Helping management establish systems and processes to execute its vision and professionalize an immature, ad-hoc and (to-date) under resourced marketing efforts.

Over time, the candidate’s focus will evolve to helping leaders establish a broader marketing capability, with support and coaching resources added as and when needed to support steps in this evolution, and an increasing strategic involvement.

Responsibilities

  • Tactical execution and monitoring of effective marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment with company’s brand and business goals.
  • Working with company management, subject matter experts and practice area leaders, refine existing and craft compelling new and targeted copy for company web sites, marketing materials, case studies, and newsletters, to communicate value proposition, project thought leadership, reach target markets and generate leads.

  • Enhance and manage the firms LinkedIn social media presence.
  • Collaborate with service delivery teams, innovation leaders, and subject matter experts to help refine and promote service offerings.
  • Working with subject matter experts and practice area leads, organize and execute Company President’s vision for periodic company newsletters, for distribution to existing curated email lists.
  •  Plan and oversee periodic company webinars used for a blend of though leadership, revenue and lead generation purposes.
  • Develop and implement an initial website SEO capability.
  • Under supervisor’s direction, research, identify and recommend martech stack tools to advance marketing efforts as marketing capabilities mature, and work with operations team to onboard adopted tools.
  • Conduct market research to inform strategies, and in collaboration with sales-oriented staff, develop and refine ideal client profiles and client journey maps.
  • Implement and track engagement metrics and KPIs against objectives, lead capture and process automation tactics. Measure and report on the performance of marketing initiatives.
  • Work with management, operations team and additional internal and external resources to expand rudimentary CRM (SUGARCRM) deployment and integrate the company’s use of its CRM tools to support marketing and sales activities, optimize customer engagement and maximize value propositions.

Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of professional experience with at least 3 years dedicated to marketing roles, the bulk of which is in a startup or small firm environment.
  • Professional services background required with a preference for experience in the renewable energy or adjacent sectors.
