The Chickasaw Nation is Hiring a Surgery Center RN Near Ada, OK

We are currently looking for a Full Time Surgery Center RN to join our Surgery Center Team team located at the Chickasaw Nation Medical Center.
Summary:
Plans and provides routine patient care to established surgical standards of nursing practice and for the delivery of safe, effective, and quality patient-family centered care in all phases and locations of perioperative care.
Responsibilities:
* Provides and advocates age and culturally appropriate, holistic patient care based upon facility mission statements and as outlined in policies and procedures
* Develops an individualized perioperative specific plan of care based upon information obtained in the assessment process and implements the plan
* Performs accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items
* Implement interventions appropriate to the age-specific needs of the patient
* Follows appropriate guidelines based on the age and condition of the patient in collecting specimens for testing
* Communicates the patient's current status to the appropriate parties throughout the continuum of care
* Calculates and safely administers all prescribed medications according to nursing standards and facility policy and protocols
* Performs interventions to maintain the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels
* Is a strong advocate and active participant in patient and patient family education i.e., diagnosis, medications and discharge instructions
* Evaluates the patient's progress toward attaining outcomes and modifies care to meet the individual needs of each patient
* Transfers care as appropriate utilizing the SBAR system
* Delegates tasks as appropriate according the Oklahoma Nurse Practice Act
* Documents all patient activity and care coordination in the patient record
* Reviews the operation schedule and patient charts for the following day and contacts the NIC, Surgery Center Manager, anesthesia, and/or surgeon regarding special needs when necessary
* Functions as a circulating nurse and is responsible for the following:
- Prepares for and assists with surgical procedures and is expected to call breaks and/or omissions in technique to the attention of the operating staff and take measures to correct the situation
- Ensures patient position to assure access to the operative area, and uses precautions to avoid obstruction of circulation, respirations, and protection of nerves from compromise of undue pressure
- Prepares operative area by cleansing skin
- Maintains surgical record including procedure, time, participants, time-out, blood loss, medications, positioning, etc.
- Ensures the proper working order of special equipment needed for each procedure
- Prepares supplies, instruments, and equipment for pending surgical procedures, based upon surgeon preference cards and preoperative orders
- Observes the need for supplies before and during operative procedures and replacing them as needed
- Ensures surgeon preference cards are updated following each procedure as needed
* When performing as a scrub nurse, anticipates the needs of the surgeon and provides instruments, sponges, sutures, suctions, cauteries, etc. as needed. Carries out perfect systematic and aseptic techniques
* Shares responsibilities for maintaining adequate supplies and equipment, as well as the general upkeep of the surgery center to maintain a safe environment
* Performs duties of admission/pre-op nurse as assigned
* Performs recovery room nursing duties for the immediate post-op patient by monitoring airways, circulation, vital signs, and wound/pain management
* Occasionally provides circulating assistance in the OB department for C-sections
* Utilizes universal precautions at all times when handling contaminated instruments, equipment, and supplies
* Functions as RN First Assist (RNFA), as qualified and as assigned, as outlined by Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Standards of Practice and complete requirements according to RNFA competencies
* Subject to return to surgery on a call back basis for emergencies and must be physically present in the CNDH Surgery Center prepared to perform duties within thirty (30) minutes of notification and within twenty (20) minutes of notification if on-call for OB
* Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types

- May augment staff in other areas as needed based on staffing and needs ratio in regularly assigned unit
* Maintains knowledge of and follows all laws, rules, regulations, policies and SOPs for assigned area, e.g. MICS, TICS, hospital standards, health codes, food sanitation, accounting principles, etc.
* Participates in performance improvement activities to measure, assess and improve the quality of assigned work area
