The Childrens Home of Reading is Hiring a Youth Behavioral Specialist II Near Reading, PA

The Children's Home of Reading Youth & Family Services, located at 1010 Centre Ave, Reading, PA, is seeking Full-Time Youth Care Workers for our Enhanced Level of Care Residential Program to cover various staffing schedules. 1st, 2nd and 3rd shifts are available. Must be available to work on weekends.

CHOR Youth and Family Services Enhanced Level of Care Residential, is an 8-bed program for 12–18-year-old males who are in need of a more enhanced level of care, experiencing family conflict, or otherwise unable to remain in the community as a result of emotional, behavioral, mental health or academic issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain safety and security of residents and facility.
  • Always maintain compliance with staffing ratios, including mandated overtime, moving to other units as requested, and attending/participating in all clinical/case management group is fulfilled.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Records (EHR) to document resident behaviors, visitation safety checks (in-house and community outings), and any applicable service.
  • Complete daily shift notes, activity notes, and communication logs, including justification for any behavioral interventions.
  • Supervises residents while following program policies and assuring compliance.
  • Actively (via participation or close monitoring) supervises residents during recreational activities and provides instruction when necessary.
  • Transports clients in company vehicles, as needed.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 Years of Age
  • Must have a valid Driver's License and clean driving record
  • Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in social work, criminal justice, psychology, or any Human Services field (REQUIRED).
  • Required to work on weekends as scheduled by supervisor.
  • Must be available for all shifts (1st, 2nd, 3rd).
  • Must past all pre-employment physical & drug screening include background clearances (Child, Criminal, FBI, and DMV)
  • Ability to demonstrate basic oral, written, and verbal communication.
  • Must attend all required trainings followed by shadowing prior to working on the unit.
  • Ability to work effectively among various levels of behaviors and maintain an atmosphere of safety, support, and guidance to ensure a positive environment.

Physical Demands for all Youth Care Workers

The employee must have the physical ability to restrain a resident, if needed, while utilizing the tenets of Safe Crisis Management training.
