Our DCF Law Practice at The Christie Law Firm needs a Contract Attorney to deliver excellent service and advocacy to our clients primarily in the areas of DCF investigations, Juvenile Court Litigation, and Substantiation Hearings. You will join a bright and talented team that works very well together to service our clients.

We are a great team, which includes our attorneys, paralegal, legal assistants, and a reunification specialist. We work remotely affording us the ability to strike a better integration of life and work. We are seeking a talented individual to join this unique firm to grow and deliver quality service to our clients. There may be a possibility of this becoming a full-time position as the firm continues to grow.

Responsibilities

• Prepare clients for court
• Research cases by interviewing witnesses, reviewing DCF records, reviewing evidence, and speaking with the client to determine the best strategy for defense
• Attend all court hearings on behalf of clients and advise clients following each hearing about the best strategies
• Provide legal guidance and support
• Attend DCF meetings with the client
• Consulting with clients to ascertain the details and merits of each case.
• Drafting motions, memorandums of law, and other legal documents in the effective advocacy of our clients.
• Representing clients at meetings, hearings, and trials.
• Working within a team atmosphere to ensure that the client’s needs are met.
• Ensuring that data obtained during interactions with clients remain confidential and are stored securely.
• Remaining abreast of changes to case law and legislation.

Qualifications

• Must be able to use Microsoft 365, and law practice software
• Must be comfortable with using technology to manage caseload work
• Sensitivity to the needs of families and children
• A strong and assertive advocate
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment
• Accredited Law degree.
• Admittance to the CT State BAR
• 1 year of experience preferred BUT not required
• Ability to handle a caseload and a willingness to meet personally with all clients
• Experience with DCF a plus
• Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Perceptive and meticulous, with an understanding of human behavior.

Hourly Pay Rate: $125/hour
