Job Summary:

The Credit Analyst will assist the Bank Credit Administration and its Lenders in the financial analysis process for consumer and commercial loans.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Analyzes credit data and financial statements of individuals or businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in lending money or extending credit.
• For individuals, performs research to verify employment and income, inspects reports from credit reporting agencies, and reviews FICO scores.
• For businesses, compares to similar businesses in terms of liquidity, profitability, and credit histories.
• Uses computer software to further evaluate customers’ financial status and produce financial reports to assist in determining repayment ability of potential borrowers.
• Assist in compiling information, completing loan applications, and composing reports detailing the degree of risk involved in loan or credit request.
• Assist Lenders in setting interest rates and minimum or maximum terms of repayment for customers in accordance with bank policy.
• Assist Senior Lending Staff with meetings, training, gathering of economic data and special projects.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software, as well as analysis software.
• Basic understanding of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies used in credit analysis.
• Ability to develop an in-depth understanding of the Bank’s Loan Policy and generally accepted credit practices and compare these to credit request presented to the bank’s Loan Committees.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and problems.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics or equivalent experience required.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
