The City of Fort Worth is Hiring an Engineering Manager - Stormwater Near Fort Worth, TX

Pay Range: $123,615 -$139,738 annual compensation

Workdays & Hours: Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 pm; Occasional evening/weekend work required.

The Stormwater Infrastructure team in the Capital Delivery Division has an position available with the City of Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works Department. This position is pivotal in overseeing and managing all aspects of delivering stormwater capital programs and projects across the City, including project development, design, and construction of stormwater management assets.

As a manager, you would lead the Stormwater Capital team, comprised of city staff and consultant engineers, in implementing stormwater capital projects supported by our sponsor, the Stormwater Planning team. This includes helping residents understand drainage challenges and devising solutions to mitigate complex drainage issues and improve drainage infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of increasing responsible engineering construction management experience.
  • Two (2) years of administrative and supervisory responsibility.
  • Possession of registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. If licensed in another state, continued employment will be contingent upon obtaining registration as a Professional Engineer within the State of Texas within six months of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Floodplain Manager or PMP
  • Highly familiar with fundamental principles, practices, and techniques of hydrologic and hydraulic engineering, drainage, and civil engineering.

The Engineering Manager – Stormwater Capital job responsibilities include:

  • Experience managing stormwater capital programs, optimizing and prioritizing limited resources to deliver maximum customer value. Management, planning, and leadership of a team of professionals to achieve stated objectives and promote professional development.
  • Ability to meet pressing deadlines, prepare RFQ proposals, manage contracts, and have strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Facilitate and coordinate with multiple parties, such as utility and interagency, to achieve a consistent outcome.
  • Understanding of capital delivery and project management discipline from initiation to close-out.
  • Operational characteristics, services, and activities of a comprehensive civil engineering program involved in stormwater system design, construction, inspection, and contract administration.
  • Prepare, update, and implement standard operating procedures; prepare and monitor budgets and performance metrics. Utilize methods and techniques for leveraging automation to improve work processes, tools, and systems.
  • Coordinate various drainage issues with management and executive staff, other City departments, consultants, external agencies, residents, developers, and developer consultants.
  • Knowledge of pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. Promote and implement sustainable infrastructure to minimize maintenance costs.

Physical Demand

Light Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly having to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces more significant than that for the Sedentary Work category and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated Light Work
