The Coffee Oasis Tacoma Youth Shelter is a 12 bed DCYF licensed shelter for 13 - 17 year olds. The shelter operates 24/7 providing youth a safe place while they work towards housing and case management goals.

Shelter Manager, The Loft

Program: Tacoma Youth Programs

Status: Full-Time

Reports to: Director of Youth Programs

Direct Reports: Direct Care Staff

SUMMARY: To provide effective leadership and oversight to The Loft Youth Shelter. The Shelter Manager is responsible for leading a staff of 12 FTEs operating a 12-bed, 24-hour licensed emergency shelter serving youth 13-17 years old.

Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00 - 4:00 pm

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• A working knowledge of Positive Youth Development Framework as defined by the US Family and Youth Services Bureau.
• Experience implementing trauma-informed care and harm reduction.
• Complete weekly and monthly HMIS and program reports.
• Oversee shelter resident intake and exit procedures.
• Oversee inputting of client data into computer systems.
• Oversee compliance with DCYF license and WAC.
• Lead monthly staff meetings and trainings.
• Coordinate staff and youth to assist with housekeeping duties in the entire Housing programs and ensure cleanliness and tidiness at all times.
• Supervise direct care staff, complete staff evaluations, performance reviews and staff corrective action when needed.
• Facilitate staff retention by implementing staff appreciation and facilitating team morale.
• Ensure a safe environment for fellow employees, volunteers and residents.
• Attend meetings and trainings as required.
• Continuous updates for operational manuals.
• Plan and lead recreational activities.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Have a passion for advocating for youth experiencing homelessness.
• In full agreement with The Coffee Oasis core values, mission and vision.
• Have a B.A. degree, or its equivalent.
• Previous supervisory experience (desired).
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have at least two years of experience working with vulnerable populations.
• Have possession of current driver’s license, access to a vehicle and personal automobile insurance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 per hour
