The Comfy Place is Hiring a Billing Specialist Near Macon, GA

At The Comfy Place, we strive to provide a place for our clients to have FUN, get REAL, and HEAL!

We have an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to utilize their prior medical/healthcare billing experience to contribute to the financial success and growth of the practice in this unique role as our Billing Specialist. This position will perform a full range of billing duties as well as support the business with administrative duties that may result in new client service opportunities.

This position is hybrid so will be able to perform some work from home while also completing some duties in-person at one of our offices.

Our small group practice provides counseling services to children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples with a variety of mental and behavioral health issues. We have physical locations in Georgia and offer telehealth to several states.

Our physical locations in Georgia are in Hiram, Alpharetta, and Macon. Clients are typically seen in the office, but virtual sessions are available for certain clients.

Job Summary

The Billing Specialist performs billing and collection of payments for the practice as well as looks for opportunities to create and foster new partnerships that may increase revenue streams for the practice. The Billing Specialist will also manage various administrative duties to support our current admin team.

This position will provide excellent client service while completing duties such as insurance verification, problem-solving, dispute resolution, and credentialing, and will communicate with clients to collect payment on current and past due accounts. The position will also perform other professional duties related to triaging new client inquiries, marketing, and general operations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Client data entry, prepares and analyzes customer billing and accounts receivables.
  • Prepares invoices, performs customer-related financial analysis and dispute resolution; collects on claims and past due accounts.
  • Troubleshoots all information related to billing problems and offers constructive solutions to billing inquires.
  • Contacts clients by telephone and mail regarding payments, banking programs, billing options, account reconciliations, collections, cancellations, and lapses.
  • Communicates with insurance companies to receive information and resolve issues.
  • Performs credentialing duties for new and current providers.
  • Identifies and explores opportunities for new service and revenue sources and relationships.
  • Serves as a liaison with community members and other organizations. Attends community business functions to gain exposure for the company. Delivers promotional presentations.

Additional Duties:

  • Drafts and or proofreads communication, marketing materials, and presentations for accuracy and consistency.
  • Assists with the development of marketing plan.
  • Other general administrative office duties.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient in [Microsoft Office Suite] or similar software.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of related medical/ healthcare billing experience.
  • Billing school/ certification strongly preferred.
  • HIPAA training preferred.
  • BA in business or closely related discipline preferred.
  • Experience managing grants and maintaining relationships with grant funders preferred.
  • One (1) year of administrative experience in a healthcare setting preferred.

Schedule Requirements

  • Part-time, anticipated 15-20 hours per week. Position may move to full-time based on performance and business operations.

Work Location

  • Hybrid: remote/telecommute and in-person at our Macon office location
  • Candidate must have a personal computer and reliable internet access to perform all duties.
  • Candidate must have a current driver’s license and acceptable driving history.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to regularly lift 15 pounds at a time.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
