Responsible for assisting with the organization and supervision of all aspects of the Head Start Nutrition and Food Program

Assists with:

• Menu planning
• Pre-costing recipes and menus
• Meal patterns for young children
• Standardize recipes
• Meal preparation
• Ensuring sanitation techniques are monitored
• Daily food preparation schedule
• Food storage
• Monitoring inventory
• Control cost and food purchasing
• Inspection of food facilities through on site visits to maintain the highest level of quality and performance
• Purchase foods/paper/equipment
• Monitoring all meal census and production to substantiate and prepare monthly report for CACFP reimbursement and modifications.
• Monitors and promotes the nutritional care of all Head Start children
• Technical assistance and promote dietary education to parents and staff
• Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Good Knowledge of nutrition practices and procedures and their application to Head Start children and their parents. Good working knowledge of nutrition provider agencies. Management and supervision skills.

B.S. in Home Economics Education or Nutrition or Dietetics and a minimum of two years work experience in any of the above related fields; or

A.S. Degree in Nutrition or dietetics and a minimum of three years experience in any of the above related fields; or

H.S. Diploma and three years experience in nutrition, dietetics or home economics education
