Job Title : Construction Project Manager / Facilities Engineer Location: Sterling Heights, MI - Primarily on site Wage Range: $50-53.50/hr Job Number: 24-01074 Job Description: Our client, a large defense contractor, has an immediate opening for a Construction Project Manager / Facilities Engineer to work from their Sterling Heights, MI facility. Do you love bringing world class interior office designs to life? Do you have a passion for coordinating multiple groups to help a project seamlessly come together? As a construction project manager, you will be a part of the Facilities Engineering team at the Client headquarters in Sterling Heights, MI. At this location we are embarking on a full-scale interior renovation of 400K SF of office space. Aspects of this role include working with a team of other facility engineers, architects, general contractors, and vendors to successfully manage the safety, quality, schedule, and cost of the renovation. This will include specification / bid package development, vendor bidding process, technical evaluation, and project implementation, through final acceptance. Responsibilities To Anticipate/Expect
Project Execution - Responsible for coordinating with our client's counterparts to ensure efforts are being successfully planned, executed and accomplished on time. Develop and monitor project schedules, requirements, progress, and delivery dates for all facilities projects and deliverables. Develop recovery plans in conjunction with business needs.
Cost Management - Manage project budget and work scope to ensure tasks are successfully accomplished. This includes reviewing financial reports and taking action to communicate and correct any variances to budget
Communication - Prepare weekly / monthly progress reports, to include presentations to client management of project / programs status, successes, and issues. Maintain daily contact with client counterparts to address routine challenges to the work scope
Reports and Presentations - Responsible for creating reports and presentations in a professional format which can be presented to leadership.
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications / What You Must Have
Education / Expertise : Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Construction Management or Engineering (Mechanical / Civil / Electrical / Industrial / Facilities, etc.) or equivalent technical, work or Military experience
Experience : 5 or more years of relevant experience
Construction / Facilities Knowledge - Must have knowledge of construction execution and management of facility renovation projects to includes developing a scope of work / specification / bid package for vendor services, evaluating vendor quotes, providing a technical evaluation and managing contractors through execution of construction.
Project Management - Must have experience managing large projects from planning, scheduling and budget development.
Communication - Excellent written and verbal communication skills required to effectively interface with GDLS support staff (Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain Management, Production, etc.) and Suppliers
Leadership - Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead and direct a team of non-direct reports. Ability to excel in a team-based environment as well as ability to work alone in a self-motivated environment.
Computer Skills - Able to utilize CAD applications (AutoCAD, Microstation, etc.) to develop and maintain 2D building layouts. Must be very proficient in MS Project. Must be able to effectively work in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint to develop professional work products. Ability to setup and host meetings in MS Outlook and MS Teams.
