Job Title: 1st Grade Torah Studies Rebbe
Reports to: Torah Studies Principal/Vice Principal

Broad Function:
Emek Hebrew Academy embraces students from a broad spectrum of the Jewish community with various levels of observant commitment. The ideal candidate has broad Torah knowledge (with emphasis on the content and skills listed below), enthusiastic, caring, patient, and giving.
The candidate should have a background in pedagogy, strong classroom management skills, and have a growth mindset.They are a team player, able to communicate with parents, colleagues and students in a clear and positive manner.
Emek staff are role models who inspire their charges with a love and passion for Torah and mitzvos. Paramount to success is the ability and importance of building deep and real relationships with the students. An Emek Rebbe is an integral player in building our community of lifelong learners with involvement and dedication both in and out of the classroom.
Primary Responsibilities: include but are not limited to:
Teach an array of core Torah curricular subjects to 1st grade boys.
Kriah - Hebrew reading review/reinforcement
K’siva - Hebrew cursive writing
Hascholas Chumash
Chagim / Parsha / Middos / Yedios Klalios
Provide a positive and safe environment for students physically and emotionally that reflects effective classroom management strategies
Support students’ social-emotional and identity development through consistent and effective classroom practices
Understand and respond to individual students’ learning interests, strengths and needs
Complete in a timely manner all lesson plans, curricular maps, student forms, grade reporting, and other “paperwork” required by the school
Provide recess and lunchroom supervision
Provide carpool supervision
Provide classroom substitution as needed
Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Extra Curricular Responsibilities:
Participate in extracurricular events as assigned and designated by the Head of School and/or the Principal. These events may include:
Staff Meetings
Open House
Student Performances, on and off campus
Parent Meetings
School Trips; and Day/Overnight trips
Education & Requirements:
Teaching or Rabbinical degree or equivalent
1-2 years teaching experience preferred
Strong written and oral communication skills
Proficient in usage of technology systems. MS Office, Google suite, and other educational technology platforms.
