Full Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Custom Residential Home Estimator to join our dynamic team. You will work directly and train alongside the Owner, Vince Calvosa, gaining invaluable experience from a seasoned professional. This role is crucial for accurately estimating the costs of custom residential home projects, ensuring the highest level of client satisfaction through precise and comprehensive project bids. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Project Estimation: Accurately estimate the costs of custom residential home projects, including materials, labor, and equipment.
  • Bid Preparation: Prepare detailed and competitive project bids, ensuring all necessary information is included.
  • Plan Analysis: Review and analyze architectural drawings, blue prints, specifications, and other project documents to determine takeoff, scope and requirements.
  • Vendor Coordination: Obtain and negotiate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their needs, provide estimates, and answer any questions regarding project costs.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all estimates, bids, and related documents.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, architects, and other team members to ensure alignment and accuracy in project estimates.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends, materials costs, and construction techniques to provide accurate and current estimates.
  • Quantity Takeoffs: Perform detailed quantity takeoffs, with a specific focus on wood framing, from construction drawings and specifications.

The ideal candidate should possess:
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in residential construction estimating.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, architectural drawings, and construction documents.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Construction Management (BuilderTrend, BlueBeam, etc.)
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail in preparing estimates and bids.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and team members.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and industry standards.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
