DescriptionSummary
The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for specific assigned projects and/or initiatives related to Strategic Initiatives and Operational Efficiencies assigned by the RVP or upper management. At times, the ROM may be required to perform the duties of a Branch Manager in the event of a vacancy. The ROM is responsible to ensure all locations within their scope of responsibility are complying with established operational procedures, and are tasked with driving continued operational improvement. The area of responsibility includes but is not limited to Shipping/Receiving, Fleet, Safety, Inventory, Operations Training, Open/Close/Relocate facilities, and Margin Enhancement. The Regional Operations Manager may supervise a select staff and may be responsible for recruiting, facilitating new hires, reviewing employees and is responsible for progressive discipline of all staff that reports to them.
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for assigned strategic initiatives in the region such as but not limited to implementation and management of Regional Purchasing, Implementation and management of Pre-Install/Field Install Division within Region, Pre-hung initiative, gross margin enhancement and assisting to improve branch operational performance
  • Works alongside Corporate Training Department to develop ERP system (Comsense) best practices across the organization and to develop training plans for the branch and region
  • Responsible for ongoing facilitation of above programs including visiting branches within the region to educate, train and improve overall efficiencies and productivity in these areas
  • Monitors material flow through assigned warehouses, including receiving, shipping and storage, assuring accuracy and efficiency at all points
  • Assists in evaluation and purchasing any new equipment or vehicles needed
  • Functions as safety coordinator for this region, and interacts with inspectors, insurance company safety representatives and others.
  • Responsible for ensuring all locations conduct required Safety Inspections
  • Maintains high safety standards, assuring that equipment and facility is in good working order and that individual operators (trucks, forklifts, welding equipment, saws or other shop tools) are properly trained
  • Controls any obsolete or overstock material, summarizing same and preparing inventory reserve analysis on a monthly basis; disposes of obsolete inventory when appropriate. Works with the branches to reduce slow moving inventory and increase turns.
  • Conducts Physical Inventory as needed to assist branches and assists in any book to physical inventory difference research that may be necessary following physical inventories
  • Ability to influence others that do not directly report to you
  • This position requires extensive travel across our entire region and may involve extended stays at any of our branches
  • Other duties as assigned by the RVP or upper management
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma Required
  • 2-4 years of operations related experience with direct supervision of staff required
  • 5-10 years of experience in the commercial door and hardware industry required
  • Experience using Comsense required
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products required
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and leadership skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Critical thinking, problem solving, self-starter
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hand to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Other conditions may include proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery and using various tools and hardware.
