D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (“DESRI”) seeks a resourceful individual to join its strategy team as an associate. The associate will help augment investing and business development efforts in the renewable energy space. DESRI is a market-leading owner and operator of renewable energy projects across the United States that acquires, develops, owns, operates, or has contracted more than 9 gigawatts of capacity among a portfolio of over 70 renewable energy projects. The role offers the opportunity to join a collegial, dynamic, and inclusive working environment as part of a highly skilled team.

Responsibilities:

You’ll be responsible for building and reviewing financial models to support management investment decisions for mergers and acquisitions or power market origination, with a focus on modeling project returns, optimizing capital structure, identifying risks and potential upside, and presenting analytical findings in a clear and concise manner. Additionally, you’ll be responsible for leading due diligence and managing third-party deliverables through deal processes. You’ll also support transaction leads on negotiating definitive documentation for M&A, PPA origination, asset dispositions, or bespoke financing products across both new projects and DESRI’s existing portfolio of projects in development, under construction, or in operation.
