We are currently seeking an experienced Hardware Compliance Engineer to join our hardware engineering team. As a Hardware Compliance Engineer, you will lead safety, compliance, and certification efforts for all our products. You will work with a team in the development of new product configurations and designs, as well as define compliance requirements and interface with 3rd-party testing labs for final reports.

This role requires a strong understanding of the regulatory compliance schemes and the processes required to specify, test, qualify, document, and maintain certifications related to Product Safety, Machine Safety (ideally with experience in robots), Functional Safety, and EMC for domestic and international markets. As regulatory requirements evolve globally, the impacts on existing products will need to be reviewed and updated as well. Technical Documentation will need to be prepared to support 3rd-party evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the safety and regulatory compliance subject matter expert for hardware products.
  • Navigate newly developed hardware devices through a growing set of international compliance standards.
  • Work directly with EE, ME, SE, and SDE team members to develop and validate high-performing design solutions. Translate safety standards into clear product requirements and test plans.
  • Drive key compliance and safety-related deliverables. Define requirements, own technical documentation, and coordinate testing efforts with external labs or regulatory bodies.
  • Help EE and ME counterparts overcome compliance and certification challenges throughout all design, testing, and validation phases.
  • Establish procedures and guidelines to ensure that industry and regulations are followed both nationally and internationally.
  • Participate in the engineering design reviews

Qualifications

Required

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field with 7 years of experience.
  • Strong technical knowledge of electrical or mechanical design, validation, and debug.
  • Experience with EU Machinery Safety Standards.
  • Prior exposure to compliance standards relevant to our products
  • Strong interest in learning and professional training in regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to learn complex systems quickly and work independently.
  • Ability to travel domestically & internationally up to 10%.

Preferred

  • Experience resolving EMC issues.
  • Functional Safety Certification.
