The Denver Foundation is Hiring a Belonging Colorado Program Lead Near Denver, CO

The Denver Foundation seeks a community-focused program lead for the Belonging Colorado program. The program lead centers on mission-based work supporting the foundation’s vision, mission, and purpose. Our Belonging Colorado program lead will be the project manager and leader of a new state-wide initiative, a new special fund housed at The Denver FoundationThe Belonging Colorado program lead reports to the Senior Director of Partnership, Policy, and Learning. It requires at least five years of experience managing complex initiatives and programs with multiple partnerships and a distributed model to advance work. It also has a background in starting new initiatives, implementing new ideas, and working with ambiguity productively.
This is a full-time position in Denver, Colorado. We work on a hybrid schedule of at least two days in-office (Monday and Thursday required). The starting salary for this position is $110,000 to $140,000 per year. This position is salaried, exempt, and eligible for all the foundation’s benefits. Benefits include paid time off, retirement (403(b)) contribution, tuition assistance, and medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance. The starting salary will be based on experience.

Belonging Colorado is a bold new effort at the Foundation, working to bridge divides and strengthen belonging and resiliency in our state. We are investing in good ideas for building connections across lines of difference, such as racial, ethnic, religious, political affiliation, and more. In the first phase of its work, Belonging Colorado will support activities such as community grantmaking, technical assistance and training, learning and evaluation, and social entrepreneurship. At a time of intense social, economic, and environmental challenges, Coloradoans must work effectively across differences to support our state's long-term health, resilience, and well-being. The Belonging Colorado program lead will lead the launch of this new initiative, including developing the body of work that will impact belonging and inclusion across Colorado. In the first phase of the program’s work, the Belonging Colorado Program Lead will support activities such as place-based grantmaking, working in partnership with a national technical assistance and training curriculum, creating the program’s learning and evaluation initiative, and identifying opportunities for social entrepreneurship. The position will partner with The Denver Foundation staff, local and national funders, and leaders working in the areas of belonging and inclusion.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated expertise in the following key areas:
  • Project management
  • Program management
  • Grantmaking and managing funding cycles, including conducting due diligence on grant applicants, reviewing and analyzing grant proposals, and, if appropriate, completing site visits
  • Working with donors and providing excellent customer service and hands-on, personalized support in their philanthropy
  • Process management and continuous improvement
  • Relationship development
  • Collaborating with others to conceptualize, define, and enhance innovative ideas
  • Effectively communicating with internal stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as effectively communicating with external stakeholders
Candidates Must Possess The Following
  • At least five years of experience managing complex initiatives and programs with multiple partnerships and a distributed model to advance work.
  • Background in starting new initiatives, implementing new ideas, and working with ambiguity productively.
  • Experience working in the social impact sector.
  • Experience working with community and government organizations.
  • An ability to build trusted relationships and effectively communicate needs across lines of difference.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit.
  • Embodies a spirit of inclusion and belonging.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Experience in community building and working with people of different backgrounds, including cross-cultural experience and helping groups find common ground.
  • An unwavering commitment to racial equity.
