Job Description:

Senior SQL Database Administrator

Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote & office). The ideal candidate will live within 50 miles of our Tampa, FL or Atlanta, GA Elevance Health PulsePoint locations. 

The Senior SQL Database Administrator will work in synchrony with our existing application development and BI teams, primarily supporting our Operational Data Warehouse, Business Apps Databases. This role is fundamental in maintaining 20 SQL servers residing on prem data center within FL subsidiary

How You Will Make An Impact: 

  • The appointed SQL Server DBA will become a subject matter expert in data loads and production support, specifically focusing on SQL servers supporting business applications. 
  • Responsible for managing the SQL infrastructure, patching, maintenance, production backups and retention, support and security vulnerability remediation. 
  • Become a liaison between the vendor and internal BI and AppDev team for 24x7 monitoring of all SQL servers to ensure connectivity of all systems for members, providers and internal business teams.
  • Enable us to meet regulatory demands, optimize operational efficiency, and advance our strategic business objectives. 
  • Reviews and revises database designs and ensures that all technical and business requirements are met. 
  • Builds database structures based on detailed design. 
  • Performs database testing to ensure performance is met and compare with expected results.
  • Provides support during the system implementation and production. 
  • Suggests new features, coding techniques and reference material.
  • Identifies gaps in scripts and procedures. suggests options for implementation of features. 

Minimum Requirements: 

Requires an BA/BS degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field of study and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in information systems and/or database administration or related disciplines; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. 

Preferred Skills, Capabilities & Experiences: 

  • Experience with: MS SQL Server; SQL Clustering/Replication and SQL Reporting Server is strongly preferred. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Azure and cloud implementation is nice to have.
  • Experience with DBMS performance management and monitoring tools strongly preferred.
  • Healthcare experience is strongly preferred
