Job Summary:
St. Mark’s Episcopal Church is seeking a part-time Contemporary Worship Leader to join our team. The Contemporary Worship Leader will be responsible for preparing and leading weekly worship services, creating music charts, hiring and scheduling worship band members, and collaborating with the clergy to design worship that enhances existing liturgy. The Contemporary Worship Leader will work up to 20 hrs/week. This position has the potential to become full-time. Reports to Associate Rector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, coordinate, and lead contemporary worship services for our 5 PM Sunday service
• Select music and prepare weekly worship sets
• Create music charts for the worship band
• Hire, train, and schedule worship band members
• Lead rehearsals and provide direction for the worship team
• Collaborate with the clergy to design worship that enhances existing liturgy
• Foster a community of artists within the church
• Provide pastoral care to the worship team and congregation
• Support and participate in special events and services throughout the year

Qualifications:

• Proficient in vocal and instrumental skills, with a focus on contemporary worship music
• Strong song leader with previous experience leading worship in a church setting
• Excellent leadership and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with clergy, staff, and volunteers
• Passion for worship and commitment to spiritual growth
• Familiarity with Episcopal liturgy and tradition is preferred

Experience:

• Prefer at least 2 years of experience in worship leadership
• Experience in hiring and managing musicians is a plus
