The Farmer's Dog is Hiring a Retention Manager - Vet Pros Near New York, NY

Who We Are
The Farmer's Dog is the fastest growing pet health service company in the US, and was born from a mission to change the landscape of pet health, providing dogs and their humans with honest, smart, and simple care - a fresh proposition in an industry riddled with manipulative and misleading marketing. We're starting by radically improving the $100 billion pet food market, replacing bulk bags of highly-processed pellets with a personalized subscription service that sends healthy, freshly-made dog food, balanced by top veterinary nutritionists, directly to customers' doors. Our ultimate goal is to create innovative, honest, and delightful experiences across all aspects of pet care, and we believe our direct-to-consumer business model, holistic approach to growth, and dynamic and forward-thinking culture uniquely position us to shepherd this backwards industry into the future.
To date, The Farmer's Dog has delivered hundreds of millions of meals nationwide and raised over $150M in funding to help us build a company as healthy as the dogs who are eating those meals. Join us as we continue to develop ways of bringing peace of mind to our customers, health to their companions, and much-needed change to the way people feed and care for their pets.

Where You'll Come In
The Farmer's Dog (TFD) is dedicated to supporting the veterinary community and empowering them with tools and education about our food so they can best serve their patients. We're looking for a resourceful and strategic veterinarian to join our established team and spearhead initiatives that guide veterinary professionals towards becoming advocates. You will be responsible for ensuring that veterinary healthcare teams have positive and deeply personalized ongoing experiences with us. You will leverage your strong communication skills to develop a best-in-class journey for vet pros, including content development, education, marketing, experiences, and interactions.
If you're looking to make an impact in the veterinary community in a scalable, novel, and creative way, then you belong on our team. You'll be responsible for identifying the right projects/initiatives to prioritize and working cross-functionally to bring them to life in an impactful way.
You'll partner closely with teams internally and externally to drive meaningful improvements to the interactions vet professionals have with us. Your efforts cultivate advocacy and foster stable, high-value, long-term relationships with people who share a mutual goal of helping pets live the longest, healthiest, and most joyful lives possible.
How You'll Make An Impact
  • Establish The Farmer's Dog as a trusted partner to veterinary professionals by leading our roadmap and strategies that move vet professionals from early awareness to loyal advocates
  • Take the lead in developing a white glove experience for veterinary professionals, including implementing high-impact initiatives (digital and physical) that drive measurable impact and change in vet professionals' perception and acceptance of TFD
  • Dive deep and uncover data insights that enable us to curate delightful and effective in-person and digital experiences for vet professionals
  • Build and maintain a trusted network of general practice, academic, industry, and specialty vet professionals to serve as advisors, speakers, and advocates for our brand
  • Establish and grow college programs for veterinary and veterinary technician students
  • Attend virtual and in-person industry events, conferences, universities, practices, and meetings to speak, network, and build connections within the veterinary community (30-40% travel required)
  • Provide vet pros with the tools, training, and opportunities they need to grow as professionals and to serve their patients
  • Keep a close pulse on industry changes to enable relevant, meaningful strategies to support our industry partnerships
  • Drive strategy and develop content for ongoing communications created for veterinary professionals that move them from awareness of TFD to advocates
We're Excited About You Because
  • You worked hard to become a licensed veterinarian and trusted advocate for pets and are energized by building relationships with veterinary professionals.
  • You genuinely love and deeply understand the veterinary industry and bring a contagious positive enthusiasm that draws fellow vet pros in and keeps them engaged.
  • You have demonstrated success collaborating in complex and undefined environments to bring new solutions to the industry's challenges.
  • You have experience in non-clinical roles and can hit the ground running in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • You are always looking to improve your environment and take things from good to great, and you seek out contrasting opinions so you can learn and grow.
  • You are a strong public speaker, and your interpersonal skills are off the charts with a track record of turning relationships into gold.
  • You think creatively, critically and objectively with excellent problem solving skills and can make quick decisions based on business demands.
  • You are mission-driven and a team player, willing to roll up your sleeves while maintaining a focus on quality and detail in everything you deliver from launching robust programs to negotiating challenging conversations with kindness and empathy.
  • You are an owner with a proven track record of using data to drive customer-facing impact

In support of this we're committed to hiring and supporting a diverse workforce, and investing in internal structures, opportunities, hiring/promotions processes, and training that create and sustain an inclusive team.
