Requirements of the Licensed Practical Nurse The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for medical support and professional nursing care to patients undergoing the detoxification process. Graduate from accredited school of Nursing with a minimum of Associate Degree
Active Florida Licensed Practical Nurse
Experience working in mental/behavioral health, substance abuse setting required
1 year at an internship in related field
Current CPR Certification
Proof of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Training or obtained
KIPU knowledge preferred
Essential Job Function of the Licensed Practical Nurse
Pre-screens new patients for appropriateness for admissions based on physical assessment date, health history and daily assessments
Excels at performing vigilant observation
Screens for psychoactive substance toxicity, intoxication and withdrawal symptoms
Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established by the Medical Doctor and Director of Nursing
Records required documentation in electronic medical record accurately and timely.
Specializes in the provision of pain management treatment through the initial process of detoxification
Adheres to HIPAA regulations protects confidential patient information
Completes charts in a timely manner, obtaining Registered Nurses' signature as needed
May be required to perform other duties, or work at other FHE locations as required
Essential Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Previous work with substance use disorders preferred
knowledge of addiction and recovery preferred
IV & Phlebotomy proficient preferred
Knowledge of drug classifications and respective medication protocol
Knowledge of CARF, DCF, and Joint Commission Standards, preferred
Knowledge of infection control and risk management
