Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Blueprint Analysis: Review structural plans and interpret blueprints accurately to understand project requirements.
  • Material List Compilation: Create and compile comprehensive material lists for building projects based on blueprint analysis.
  • Software Utilization: Enter material lists into the software system to ensure accurate documentation and tracking.
  • Structural Data Assistance: Assist in providing engineered wood structural data, including sizing beams and floor systems, to support project planning and execution.
  • Customer and Contractor Interaction: Interact with customers and subcontractors in a friendly and professional manner to address inquiries and ensure project clarity.
  • Policy Adherence: Follow all Franklin Building Supply policies and procedures, prioritizing safety and professionalism in all tasks.
  • Vision and Values Support: Support Franklin’s vision, mission, and values, including safety initiatives, lean practices, and prioritization of employee well-being.

Important, may be essential depending on specific duties/tasks assigned:

  • Adaptable Duties: Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and willingness to contribute to various aspects of the estimation process.
  • Remote Work Opportunity: After completing training, have the opportunity to work remotely as needed, ensuring continued productivity and flexibility.
  • Meeting Participation: Actively participate in scheduled meetings and training sessions to stay updated on project requirements and company policies.

Requirements

Required:

  • Structural Understanding: Possess an understanding of the components associated with the structure of a home and/or commercial building to accurately assess material needs.
  • Spatial Visualization: Ability to interpret 2-dimensional drawings and visualize the 3-dimensional structure accurately to ensure precise material estimation.
  • Time Management: Capable of managing time effectively to complete tasks accurately and efficiently within deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Recognize problems and suggest and execute solutions to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Communication Skills: Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to convey information clearly and concisely.
  • Task Prioritization: Ability to prioritize tasks, maintain focus, and manage time effectively amidst distractions.
  • Versatility and Directions: Willingness to be versatile, understand, and follow directions to adapt to evolving project requirements.

Strongly Preferred:

  • Blueprint Understanding: Basic understanding of blueprints to interpret project specifications accurately.
  • Building Industry Experience: Past involvement in the building industry to leverage industry knowledge and experience in estimation tasks.
  • Design Software Proficiency: Experience with design software such as CAD or Bluebeam to enhance accuracy and efficiency in material estimation processes.
  • Material Knowledge: Basic knowledge of commercial/residential building materials and their applications to ensure accurate material selection and estimation.
