Visit; https://www.cee.seas.gwu.edu, for more information. DutiesThe Civil and Environmental Engineering Department ( CEE ) is seeking a Department Operations Assistant. Under direct supervision of the Departments Operations Lead, The Operations Assistant will provide administrative support to The Operations Lead and academic support to the Chair, Faculty and Student populations. The position will serve as the first point of contact for the department and will assist with the day-to-day operations of the Unit. Other duties will include but are not limited to:
Monitors and responds to inquiries received in the department’s email inboxes.
Updates and maintains course scheduling as well as prepares, distributes, and coordinates dissertation announcements and required examinations.
Coordinates departmental events, seminars, and distinguished lectures. Reviews and updates the department’s Listserv and operations manual. Conducts Banner Workflows, Faculty Hire Application and Stipend Management operations.
Submits Fix-It maintenance requests, conduct P-card transactions and process students’ registration forms.
Works closely with the department student workers to create and organize department newsletters; update departments’ social media accounts.
Arranges travel and accommodations for researchers, visiting scholars, faculty, and students and handles event registrations for various engineering conferences.
Duties will also include: submitting expenses in Concur; working with international students on Visa and enrollment processes.
Performs other related duties as assigned from time to time. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position. Minimum QualificationsQualified candidates will hold a high school diploma/ GED plus 1.5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
Experience in a higher education environment
Knowledge of Enterprise Systems (Oracle, Banner, SMA , EAS and Kronos)
