Job OverviewJob Description Summary:Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Award Management, the Sponsored Projects Analyst, Award Management supports institutional research goals as an integral part of the Office of the Vice Provost for Research’s Office of Sponsored Projects. The Sponsored Projects Analyst, Award Management performs the core functions of the central office as institutional review and approval for award management transactions including administrative action requests, sponsor prior approval requests, and annual and final progress reports. The Sponsored Projects Analyst, Award Management may manage a portfolio of diverse university schools, departments, centers, and institutes. The incumbent performs as a primary university resource to interpret and implement sponsor guidelines, federal and state regulations, along with university policies and procedures; provides oversight of the award management process to minimize the university’s compliance risk; communicates with sponsoring agencies; provides guidance to Principal Investigators and departmental staff associated with sponsored activities; and keeps abreast of new developments in the field of research administration, post-award management, federal regulations, policies, and procedures in order to serve as a Subject Matter Expert ( SME ) for information and guidance to university faculty, staff, and students.
Job Duties Include
  • Serves as back-up coverage for the Assistant Director, Award Management to provide oversight of grants and contracts administration process to minimize the university’s compliance risk.
  • Serves as a resource for complex projects with multiple collaborators, international designation, or large, complex collaborative projects.
  • Acts as a point of contact for identifying resources and provides information to facilitate the award management process; analyzes and resolves problems related to non-compliance during the award management process.
  • Provides guidance to internal stakeholders for requested revisions and amendments in an informed and timely fashion. Resolves award inquiries by researching the applicability of federal regulations or non-federal terms and conditions to educational institutions and applying expert knowledge of university policies and procedures, past institutional experience, and other resources to advance the university’s position in contracts and award acceptance. Works effectively with people across teams to formulate, and manage resolutions.
  • Liaises with affiliated offices such as Human Resources, Technology Transfer, General Counsel, Grants and Contracts Accounting Services, Finance, and Research Integrity to facilitate initial contact as part of award management process.
  • Troubleshoots and responds to inquiries related to electronic research administration system related to award management activity including award modification and subawards
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum QualificationsQualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 5 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 3 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
