Shift:
  • 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (Traditional 3 on, 2 off, 2 on, 3 off)

Primary:
  • Clinical skills - Meets state licensing and all other appropriate regulations for position, as well as The Glen’s expectations of position clinically (direct nursing, teaching, supervision, guidance). Recognizes early signs of changing conditions and uses all available and appropriate resources to resolve needs.
  • Home Building - Demonstrates to all staff, residents and family that The Glen is committed to the creation of the pleasures and good daily life expected of a resident’s home. Understands that quality care is enhanced with quality of life in the household.
  • Leadership - Models and ensures that everyone is providing medical treatment in a manner that honors resident preferences and individuality. Sensitive to changing medical needs and the nature of staff responses and takes appropriate actions. Provides leadership to household staff to maintain policies and procedures for clinical practices and household management that support the values of resident directed care.
  • Mentor - Advocate and Lifelong Learner - Is able to model person-centered practices, as well as evaluate and provide direction and coaching to other medical staff as needed. Mentors and leads clinical employees in the household and maintains a positive working relationship with all members of the household staff. Able to facilitate sense of team connection and participation. Able to nurture sense of accountability to residents and household among nursing staff. Able to advocate for needs of either household, resident, family or staff as needed.
  • Sensitivity and Communication - Able to provide clear directions and explanations and elicits trust and cooperation from staff. Good supervision skills – provides clear directions and expectations as well as providing clear, effective feedback. Able to communicate resident’s medical needs clearly with staff and families, and facilitates other staff participation in medical care through eliciting others’ observations, suggestions, etc. Able to communicate clearly and effectively with physicians.
Requirements:
  • Licensure as an LPN in Louisiana; unencumbered and must maintain license renewal in accordance with the standards of the State Board of Nursing.
  • 1 years’ experience in nursing (long term care preferred).
  • CPR certified.
  • IV certified.
  • Commitment to person directed care. Specialized training or experience in dementia care and geriatric nursing preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills and able to use EHR, MS Outlook, and phone/fax.
  • Proficient in use of medical terminology.
  • Performs nursing functions within the household to ensure the provision of effective daily care and services to each resident in accordance with their assessment, choices and plan of care.
  • The ability to work successfully both independently and with the care team in household settings. Able to think “outside the box” and develop individualized care as indicated.
