- Benefits available to eligible employees with enrollment in a medical insurance plan. Eligibility may vary by position, average hours worked, length of service, and/or location.
- Assist in teaching and leading RSB group fitness classes as scheduled.
- Assist in developing level-specific curriculums (typically a progression/modification of one class per day or week) focused on a specific sequence of activities, breathing techniques, proper stretching (dynamic and static), proper warm-up, balance challenges, voice activation, boxing specific circuit training workout, hydration and cool-down.
- Study corrective exercise techniques and apply appropriately to classes and individuals through specific modification and profession of each exercise.
- Be prepared to discuss Rock Steady with anyone, in any situation, with confidence and authority.
- Welcome and make introductions of new members / visitors.
- Set up class equipment as needed for daily curriculum.
- Assist members with putting on gloves, drinking water, tying shoelaces.
- Identify specific needs on any day (extra attention to new members and their families, member returning after suffering an injury or hospitalization. In classroom and make necessary change in curriculum in necessary
- Teach classes with other coaches, cornerman, and volunteers.
- Assist cornerman, volunteers and visiting students/interns.
- Conduct class and teach and assist members proper form (boxing, strength training, stretching)
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and accept constructive criticism.
- Must be able to deal tactfully with boxers, residents, family members, visitors and government agencies/personnel, and the general public. Must be able to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and potentially hostile people with in the facility. Must be able to speak, write and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with supervisors, employees, residents and families.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or in process of obtaining.
- Degree in fitness/ exercise science or personal exercise training certification or group fitness certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of physical and cognitive disabilities.
- Personable and able to work with people with Parkinson’s and their care partners.
- Well -organized, multi-tasking skills. Proven leadership ability.
- Comfortable marketing and speaking to the public.
- Personal Training and/or exercise sports science certifications required.
- Ability to get certified as Rock Steady Boxing Coach (on-line certification with in-class hours)
- Current CPR, first aid certification.
