Description

Summary:

Vocational and Community Education Manager leads the vocational services department in the development of a robust internal and community based vocational program that focuses on developing independent job and prevocational skills, as well as increasing student access to the community while increasing quality of life. This position will developing caseloads for and supervise staff implementing services.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Programming:

  • Provide transparent, trauma-based leadership for the assigned Vocational staff.
  • Develop and manage the Guild School onsite job and vocational training sites to include coordination with classrooms and staff on shifts.
  • Develop and manage the Guild community job sites to include collaboration and communication with employers; ensuring satisfaction with our employment specialists and students.
  • Develop and manage the Guild volunteer sites; ensuring safety and satisfaction with our program involvement.
  • Oversee fidelity and implementation of assessment and teaching protocols of vocational teams in the various program offerings.
  • Coordinates with the clinical leads and case managers to integrate clinical team members into the internal and community based vocational programming.
  • Develop and manage the Guild's COVETT program (community based education program).
  • Assigns and coordinates vocational staff caseloads and associated workflow.
  • Model and supervises curriculum implementation, effectiveness, and fidelity for new and existing programs.
  • Serve as a liaison with representatives from community based job sites, and works to developing an increasing number of relationships in recreation and leisure community agencies.
  • Participate in systems for effective consultation with Guild School staff from specialists and other program consultants to incorporate their recommendations/suggestions as appropriate, attending meetings as assigned by the Associate Director of Operations and Programming.
  • Develops and maintains systems of parent/ guardian communication about vocational programming.

Staffing and Supervision:

  • Collaborate with Human Resources for all hiring and promotions within department.
  • Work with Guild team members to ensure the proper training of Vocational team members to implement IEPs, Guild and DCF treatment plans.
  • Work with Human Resources to review and approve all corrective action plans, disciplinary action plans, and evaluations.
  • Provide orientation, onboarding, and training to new staff in department.
  • Provide on-call supervision and emergency response to Guild classrooms and vocational community locations.
  • Ensure schedules of the department are complete and accurate; meeting the needs of a student centered program.

Administrative:

  • Responsible for the staffing and payroll process for department.
  • Assist with planning department and division special events.
  • Other related duties as assigned
  • Process and distribute student payroll

Essential Job Functions:

  • Regular attendance at work is an essential function of the job including inclement weather situations.
  • Demonstrated evidence of mature judgment, good interpersonal skills, model supervisoryskills, and a desire to enrich individuals' lives and a willingness to learn from skilled professionals.
  • Physical and mental capacity to work in stressful situations and de-escalate individuals who have limited cognition and complex needs.
  • Must be able to organize, plan, and prioritize activities with specific attention to higher level strategies while ensuring that details are also effectively addressed.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English is an essential function of the job.
  • Pass Guild Driving test to access Guild vehicles for transportation of individuals.
  • The ability to manage emergency situations and delegate responsibilities in times of crisis.
  • The ability to implement crisis intervention techniques as necessary, including Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (via certification through CPI)
  • The ability to assist individuals in evacuation from the school.
  • Must possess sufficient use of the senses of vision, hearing, and touch to observe effectively in the classroom, clinical, and community settings.

Qualifications


  • 2-5 years supervisory experience
  • Bachelor's degree in related field with a vocational or rehab certification required
  • At least 5 years working in special education field preferred
  • Five (5) years of experience providing services to children/adolescents who have mental health diagnoses and/or developmental disabilities
  • Demonstrated supervisory and administrative skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to attend to numerous details and understand multiple regulatory standards
  • Must meet Massachusetts Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) background check requirements.
  • Reliable transportation to The Guild School in Concord, MA as well as to multiple Guild residences in Massachusetts
  • A valid driver's license and responsible driving record for transporting students, as needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, case management software, and other electronic tools.
