The Hamlin School is Hiring a Communications Manager Near San Francisco, CA

Reports to: Executive Director of Institutional Advancement

Primary Responsibilities: The Communications Manager is responsible for upholding the mission and values of Hamlin through effective and consistent communication and oversight of Brand Standards. 

Hours/Classification: 12-Months Full-Time; Exempt

Position Start Date: After July 1, 2024

Salary and Title: $80,000 - $95,000 - DOE

Required Professional Experience and Credentials

  • 2-5 years of progressive experience in communications with a track record of success 
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience conceptualizing, writing, and coordinating advancement materials 
  • Superb organization and administrative skills, including working knowledge of Google Suite, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and the ability to juggle long-range strategic planning while prioritizing and completing multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Knowledge of InDesign or other design software and willingness to learn new software or applications
  • Evening and weekend hours are required at times when the team is hosting and supporting events or to respond to unexpected communications needs

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

Communications:

  • Create and produce communications for parents, grandparents, employees and friends, including the weekly electronic parent newsletter (The Hamlin NOW), Hamlin community email blasts, handbooks and other essentials as needs arise 
  • Maintain and execute on a comprehensive social media strategy for Hamlin based on best practices and aligned with the Hamlin mission and culture elevating excellence and joyful engagement
  • In partnership with the Alumni Engagement and Philanthropy Manager and contract design partner, develop content, engage key stakeholders, and produce Hamlin’s annual magazine – Keeping Posted; work in partnership with contract design partners for other major publications as needed
  • Oversee Hamlin’s photography archive system (Vidigami platform), regularly capture moments of school life throughout the year, and inspire faculty to participate in collecting and archiving current photos throughout the year
  • Work in partnership with the Head of School on emergency or urgent communications 

Marketing and Brand Management:

  • Maintain and uphold Hamlin’s Brand Standards and Style Guide to ensure consistency of communications with all constituents
  • In partnership with the Director of Admission, produce print and digital materials to support the work of admissions and enrollment 
  • Maintain Hamlin’s external facing website (WordPress platform) 
  • Identify, interview and manage outside vendors and create and manage communications budget to produce print materials on time and on budget

Donor Engagement:

  • In partnership with the Database and Stewardship Manager, produce Hamlin’s Annual Report of Donors 
  • In partnership with the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, produce periodic foundation grant requests and reports

Events:

  • In partnership with the Director of Events, support school events and the events of the Hamlin Parents’ Association through projects including (but not limited to) creating electronic and print communications, designing and coordinating production of all printed materials, and coordinating and supporting volunteers
  • Attend and support all advancement team events and serve as liaison to the tech team and campus operations team as it relates to printed and digital media showcased during the events
  • Support the Administrative team and academic leaders in producing or editing print and digital communications to support essential programs and key milestones throughout the year

Teamwork: 

  • As a member of the Advancement Team, foster and strengthen relationships with constituents and build community through effective communications and partnership
  • Perform other duties consistent with the above responsibilities and in conjunction with the overall goals of the Advancement Office
