Our Corporate Development team is currently seeking an Analyst in our Worcester, MA location. This is a full time, exempt role. Position is eligible for Hybrid/Flex work arrangement. POSITION OVERVIEW:The Corporate Development & Strategy group is responsible for all mergers & acquisition activity, strategic investments, joint ventures, dispositions, corporate partnerships and business portfolio actions within the Hanover. We also provide strategic analysis of current industry trends and seek market and business opportunities that might not be visible to other parts of our organization. This role performs research and valuation analysis necessary for the various projects/initiatives supporting work across the team.Supports moderate to highly complex business and/or technical processes across multiple departments and/or lines of business.Serves as a project team member for projects of small to medium scope and basic to moderate complexity, or sub-projects within a large or highly complex project.Maintaining a high level of confidentially is necessary based on the nature of the work in this department. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Financial modeling, valuation analysis and merger consequences modelingProvides an initial review of acquisitions and investment candidate research and assessmentMaintains deal pipeline and DealCloud databaseStrategic, operational and financial due diligenceSupports transaction process coordination and project planningStrategic integration and financial support for acquired businessesSupport strategic planning initiatives, in partnership with the business segments, to advance market positioning and executionIndustry research and competitive analysisExtensive use of financial databases and analytical tools (i.e. S&P Global Market Intelligence, Factset, Alphasense)Able to work independently and seeks guidance from more experienced resources when needed.WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:Undergraduate degree with strong performance1 to 3 years of experience in an analytical/quantitative role within the financial services or insurance industriesCFA and/or CPA or progress towards attainment desiredSolid understanding of financial statement analysis, financial modeling and key financial / accounting conceptsStrong problem solving and business assessment skillsAdvanced skills with Excel and Power Point.Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to present to executive audiencesGrowing understanding of the insurance industry (key players, current trends) desirableMust be self-motivated and organized, calm during stressful situations and comfortable working with senior executivesAnalytical Thinking: Applies analytical techniques, e.g., separating a complex whole into its parts or elements to resolve problems or issues.
