The Hanover Insurance Group is Hiring a PL Operations - Data Analyst Near Worcester, MA

Our Personal Lines Operations team is currently seeking a Data Analyst in our Worcester, MA (HYBRID); Howell, MI (HYBRID); or Atlanta, GA (REMOTE) location. Position is eligible for a Hybrid/Flex work arrangement and fully remote for the right candidate. This is a full time, exempt role.
POSITION OVERVIEW: Applies analytical skills to the development and enhancement of unique proprietary business tools that drive the optimization and improvement of Personal Lines Operations and are a strategic differentiator to the unique Hanover business model. Develops tools, processes and reporting analytics in support of delivering excellent experiences, superior programs, and meaningful insights that ensure our agents are successful and our customers are properly protected. Communicate with business stakeholders, teammates, and internal departments, while effectively leading complex analytics projects.
IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:
  • Leverage understanding of business processes and the P&C Insurance industry to translate requirements into analytical reports and adapt models to meet evolving business needs.
  • Provide operational insights by analyzing data trends and identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Work independently, utilizing resources to respond to urgent requests and produce both routine and ad hoc information in a dynamic environment.
  • Summarize information, draw insights from complex data, and effectively communicate analyses to internal partners, both in writing and verbally. Must be comfortable presenting findings to senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with team and management to generate innovative solutions, approaching problems with curiosity and open-mindedness.
  • Participate in the development of new tools and process enhancements, enabling new capabilities and solutions to drive business growth. Stay proactive about external trends and best practices.
  • Lead projects or meetings as needed, meet deadlines, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, ever-changing business environment.
  • Foster a collaborative environment through active engagement with the team, promoting the usage of best practices, encouraging effective communication, and problem-solving to enhance overall team performance and knowledge.
  • Collect customer requirements, define analysis/reporting needs, identify technical issues, and develop detailed, visually appealing reports to support strategic business initiatives.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of one year of Property and Casualty industry experience.
  • 2 to 3 years of related analytical experience.
  • Ability to comprehend key industry financial/operational metrics.
  • Demonstrated data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, proficient in SQL and Power BI.
  • Ability to summarize complex business concepts into written & oral communications using PowerPoint and other data presentation tools.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize varied priorities under aggressive timelines.
  • Capability to thrive in both independent and collaborative work environments, demonstrating commitment to team success while taking initiative in individual responsibilities.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Ability to use a personal computer and other standard office equipment.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced or stressful environment.
  • Ability to travel as necessary.
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods.
