The Role …

We are seeking an experienced Senior Analytical Scientist to join our research and development team. You will have the exciting opportunity to lead the development and execution of analytical chemistry methods and analyses for our R&D organization. In this role, you will provide valuable technical expertise to both our internal and external teams, helping to drive our innovative projects forward.

Integral to this role is the proven ability to work independently, as you will be the sole person responsible for this work. You should possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate advanced proficiency in all aspects of analytical chemistry. This position is located at our Secaucus, NJ office, and has the flexibility to work a hybrid schedule.

Your Responsibilities …

  • Oversee and operate a laboratory adhering to the principles of Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
  • Process routine samples to support R&D business requirements
  • Create, review and approve all SOP’s, test methods and reports related to Hartz’ analytical chemistry program
  • Develop, validate and execute chemical analysis methods required to support the production of all Hartz products
  • Maintain all chemicals, laboratory supplies, and equipment, including required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), needed to successfully and safely perform chemical analyses
  • Collaborate with R&D scientists to assist in formulating new and current products, evaluating product stability and exploring alternate raw material supply sources
  • Provide technical expertise on new innovations and technologies through collaboration with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Support the manufacturing facility’s Quality Control operation by providing protocols, equipment recommendations and training as required
  • Mentor R&D team members in effectively applying analytical chemistry techniques at each stage of the product development cycle

Requirements

You’ll Need …

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and 7 years’ experience in an analytical chemistry R&D lab or; Master’s Degree with 5 years’ related experience
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of analytical chemistry including: laboratory techniques, instrumentation, laboratory software requirements, laboratory chemicals, GLP and laboratory safety requirements
  • Proficient with HPLC and GC methodology and instrumentation
  • Previous experience with method development including: writing, reviewing and approving test methods and validation protocols
  • Familiarity with analyzing regulated products (pesticide analysis a plus)
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (cGLP)
  • Proficient in writing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and reports that meet the cGMP requirements of both EPA and/or FDA using Microsoft Office
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically (up to 6 times a year)
