Job Description
The Heritage Community is a residential treatment program for adolescents, ages 13 - 18. We provide a Medical Center to monitor and give psychiatric, dietary, and medicinal care for the students enrolled in our program. We currently seek to hire a part-time Medication Technician / MA! This position will perform a number of functions to support the RN's on duty, including medication organization and administration, vital checks, transporting students for medical appointments, updating medical records, etc. We are looking for a detail-oriented candidate, who can efficiently perform tasks, while showing maturity and enthusiasm to serve our students and their families proactively.

Schedule:

• Tues, Thurs evenings, and weekend rotation.

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Excellent customer service mindset, including solid communication and interpersonal-relationship skills.
• Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA standards/rules as they apply to healthcare and medication.
• Aptitude of adolescent development, with proficiency in working with an adolescent population, ages 13 - 18.
• Excellent clerical and organizational skills to assist in detailing medication management.
• Good computer skills, professional writing skills, and a working knowledge for Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with medication management, including but not limited to, administering prescribed medications to the students, verifying and recording dosage and time of administration, observing ingestion, organizing and stocking medication inventory and supplies, etc., all under the direction of the RN on duty.
• Obtain pertinent vitals and weight checks of the students, as scheduled or needed, and accurately record data.
• Assist RN's in performing assessments on newly admitted students.
• Assist with student transports, as needed, for medical appointments.
• Perform routine laboratory tests, as needed.
• Clean and sterilize equipment, instruments, and exam rooms.
• Wash and clean bedding.
• Offer exceptional customer service with the students and parents regarding medicinal care. Listen carefully and thoughtfully, working collaboratively with fellow Medical Center caregivers to fulfill needs and requests.
• Report to medical emergencies on campus - assisting the RN on duty, as directed.

Qualifications:

• Completed certification as a Medication Technician, MA, CNA, or EMT will be competitive.
• Current BLS certification or must obtain certification upon hire.
• Must be at least 20 years of age to apply.
• Proficiency and fluency in speaking, understanding, reading, and writing English.
