The Hershey Company is Hiring a Quality Technician Near Plymouth, IN

Location: Plymouth, IN SCOPE:This position will report directly to the Quality Assurance Food Safety Manager and indirectly to the Shift Supervisor and is responsible for performing hourly control tests and inspections of random samples of finished product.
Pay:
  • Starting at $21.81 /hr overnight shifts have additional shift differential
  • Bi-weekly pay
  • $500 sign-on bonus for eligible candidates

Shifts:
  • Day shifts available/ Night Shift available
  • 12 hours shifts (6am-6pm OR 6pm-6am)
  • 2-2-3 schedule: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off rotation. Working 3-4 days/week (One week: Sun, Wed, Thurs Next week: Mon, Tues, Fri, Sat).
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Checking of:
    • Oven exits moisture.
    • Finishing moisture
    • Salt contents
    • Color
    • P.H.
    • Count per pound.
    • Breakage
    • Length
    • Bag and label checks.
    • Case count checks
    • Bag weight checks.
    • Percent Filling
    • Metal detection checks as required.
    • Monitoring of Critical Quality Control Points
    • Perform pre-op inspections.
    • Calibration of quality equipment
    • Assist supervisors withhold procedure.
    • Sanitation of lab and equipment.
    • Enter test results into computer as required.
    QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
    • Sample Preparation, Sample Analysis per Test protocols, Basic Math, and Literacy Skills

    • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, decimals, and percentages.
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written/oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Physical Demands and Work Environment The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member must be in good physical condition to perform the tasks assigned. The team member must lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds. The team member is required to stand, walk, crouch, climb, bend, twist and reach with both hands and arms. The team member must be able to demonstrate agility of both hands and all fingers to push, pull, grasp, touch and feel. The team member must be able to lift with both hands and lift overhead with both hands. The team member must demonstrate good visual acuity and hand/eye coordination. Must be able to talk/communicate and hear.
