High Steel Service Center has a 200,000 sq ft facility with 150,000 tons of capacity. A full-line metal processor and distributor , High Steel Service Center offer a wide variety of stainless steel, carbon steel, and aluminum flat-rolled products.

We are currently seeking a part-time, casual Utility Operator A to join our 1st shift operations team.

The candidate will work between 6:30 AM and 3:00 PM.

The Utility Operator performs a wide variety of duties including, but not limited to, Truck Loading, Stock Pulling, Receiving, and operation of the Blanking Line, Slitter and Stretcher Leveler. They will use overhead cranes, sideloaders and forklifts to move materials.

Areas of responsibility for our Utility Operator A:

• Operate material handling equipment to move, lift or load materials.
• Trains, guides, and provides ongoing assistance to new hires and others on how to perform their job duties to meet expected standards of performance.
• Oversee the assistance of a helper for processing operations as needed.
• Use banders, data terminal, calculator, small hand and power tools.
• Move Rail-Cars for Unloading in the Facility
• Contact Norfolk Southern for track access and Rail-Car Switches
• Unload Rail Cars into Building
• Unload inbound material into correct bay.
• Measure and visually check materials for proper length, width, squareness, flatness, thickness and overall quality by using tape measures and micrometers.

Our next candidate will possess the following educational and work experience:

• High School Diploma or GED
• Strong knowledge of basic math concepts including fractions and decimals. 
• Ability to work as part of a team and as an individual contributor
• Previous warehousing or material handling experience, required
• Previous experience operating a sideloader, overhead crane and/or forklift, required
• Valid PA Driver's License, required
