Job Summary: The Fire Sprinkler Manager oversees all aspects of fire sprinkler systems, including planning, installation, maintenance, and inspection across various commercial projects. This role is responsible for managing the entire lifecycle of fire sprinkler projects from inception to completion, ensuring adherence to NFPA codes, local regulations, and company standards. The position requires strong leadership skills to effectively guide a team of Superintendents, Foremen, and Sprinkler Fitters, as well as technical expertise to oversee construction and installation activities. The Fire Sprinkler Manager is accountable for executing projects efficiently, on time, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This role demands the ability to manage projects effectively, coordinate with various stakeholders, and drive successful outcomes in fire protection systems implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, plan, and manage the installation, maintenance, and inspection of fire sprinkler systems across residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, design drawings, local building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and coordinate a team including fitters, apprentices, helpers, field technicians, foremen, superintendents, and subcontractors. Provide guidance, leadership, and effective task assignment to meet productivity goals.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers, clients, contractors, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets. Review contracts for interpretation of inclusions/exclusions.
  • Procure necessary materials and equipment, coordinating deliveries and managing inventory to meet project schedules.
  • Conduct and oversee testing and commissioning of fire sprinkler systems to ensure functionality and compliance with regulatory standards, including NFPA codes and manufacturer specifications.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients and General Contractors, addressing concerns and providing updates throughout project lifecycles to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Complete, manage, and submit all required documentation, including permits, reports, RFIs, change orders, T&M pricing sheets, daily reports, and project records.
  • Train and mentor team members on installation techniques, safety practices, and equipment operation.
  • Implement and enforce company safety policies and procedures on job sites, conducting routine safety inspections and taking necessary corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Hold and maintain required licenses, such as a valid LLR license in South Carolina, to act as the responsible managing employee for fire sprinkler systems.
  • Hold weekly production meetings, monitor project status and financials, ensure timely addressing of change order opportunities, and communicate project billing status to the Contracts Administrator.
  • Assist in sales and pricing with clients and General Contractors.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and provide documentation and progress reports to relevant parties.
  • Develop and implement project schedules, allocate manpower resources effectively, and ensure timely completion of projects within budgetary constraints.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory changes related to Fire and Life Safety systems and incorporate them into project management practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the field team, troubleshoot installation and system issues, and ensure proper functioning of installed fire sprinkler systems.
  • Support Pre-Construction activities as needed, including specification review, submittals, site surveys, and project walk-throughs.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


What we are looking for: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Applicable state journeyman license (e.g., LLR license for South Carolina)
  • OSHA-30 certification is highly desired
  • NICET Level III certification is required
  • NICET Level IV certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in fire sprinkler system installation, management, and fire & life safety construction projects, preferably in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, blueprints, and technical specifications
  • Familiarity with Autosprink or similar fire sprinkler design software
  • Expertise in plumbing, pipefitting, and general construction practices
  • Proficiency in construction equipment operation and maintenance
  • Knowledge of NFPA code requirements
  • Thorough understanding of local, state, and federal construction regulations
  • Excellent project management abilities, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks effectively
  • Strong budgeting skills and experience in construction cost management
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team of technicians and subcontractors
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and team members
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Solid understanding of occupational health and safety standards and the ability to ensure compliance throughout the construction process
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software and tools used in project management and fire alarm system design

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in various environments, including industrial facilities, commercial buildings, and outdoor settings.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, and kneeling for extended periods.
  • Ability to work at heights and in conned spaces as needed.
