Job Description

Marine Service Technician Job Overview:
Under limited supervision, Our Client is seeking a Marine Service Technician (MST) to install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. Responsibilities include testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas, as well as loading, updating, and modifying software. MSTs will apply their expertise in electronic theory and circuitry to resolve technical issues, using complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals for accurate completion of assignments. Upon finishing tasks, the Marine Service Technician will generate detailed service reports.
Types of equipment serviced:

  • Radars
  • ECDIS
  • Satcoms
  • HF and VHF Radios
  • GPS
  • Gyrocompasses
  • Autopilots
  • Sounders

Marine Service Technician Qualifications:

  •  3 years of experience as a Marine Electronics Technician in the commercial shipping industry or equivalent acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
  • Associate degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement preferred.
  • GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
  • Must be physically fit; job requires carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to various weather conditions.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation required.
  • Availability to work weekends as needed.
