This is a full-time, hourly position located within the front office team. The starting pay range is $15-$19 / hour, depending upon experience.

We are looking for a highly motivated individuals to join our team as our first ever Campus Concierge . The ideal candidate uses their engaging personality to create a memorable first impression for our campus guest when they call the hotel.

While answering the phones, the Campus Concierge is a source of knowledge for the guest for everything about the hotel, its amenities, and upcoming events.

Your Responsibilities

  • To answer incoming university calls within 3 rings with a smile.
  • To collect information from university departments to make restaurant and hotel reservations using Open Table and Opera.
  • Serving as a liaison between the hotel and university. Collecting appropriate information from university departments calling to reserve event space.

Relaying the appropriate information to our Sales and Planning team members.

  • To direct calls throughout the hotel providing courteous guest service, using guest name and responding promptly to guest questions, complaints or requests.
  • Become fully familiar with the hotel’s outlets and services available to the guest and be able to provide accurate information on guest services at all times.
  • To obtain updated information daily on restaurant, hotel / conference center events and be able to accurately answer inquiries about these events.
  • Understand how to operate accurately the hotel telephone system to provide maximum courteous and efficient telephone service to all customers.
  • To follow up with all guest calls and complaints (using guests name)
  • Maintain the Campus Concierge area in a neat and orderly manner.

What You Need to be Successful :

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • A strong desire to make an impact on other people
  • An outgoing and engaging personality
  • Computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced setting

Preferences Given to Those With :

  • Previous hotel or conference center experience.
  • Experience with Opera Property Management System and Open Table.
  • Previous experience working in a university environment.
  • Previous experience as a PBX operator or working with a multi-line phone system.

Overview :

The Concierge provides information to guest / visitor inquiries and coordinates all guest requests for special arrangements for services, courteously and efficiently.

Escorts VIPs to assigned guest rooms, informing guests of hotel services, features and room amenities. Attends to immediate needs of VIPS upon arrival and provides follow through attention throughout stay.

Key Duties & Responsibilities :

  • Greet, register, and assign rooms to guests of hotels.
  • Contact housekeeping or maintenance staff when guests report problems.
  • Issue room keys and escort instructions to bellhops.
  • Record guest comments or complaints, referring customers to managers as necessary.
  • Transmit and receive messages, using telephones or telephone switchboards.
  • Advise housekeeping staff when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning.
  • Answer inquiries pertaining to hotel services, guest registration, and travel directions, or make recommendations regarding shopping, dining, or entertainment.
  • Arrange tours, taxis, or restaurant reservations for customers.
  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) : Required
  • Formal training in the Hospitality Industry preferred.
  • Previous training in guest relations.
  • Good understanding of the English language with the ability to articulate effectively and possess strong written skill sets.
  • Ability to sell hotel outlets suggestively up.
  • Certification in CPR preferred.
  • Must be TIPS, CARE (or equivalent) certified, or become certified by first day on the job.
  • Knowledgeable of surrounding area.
