The Ion Center for Violence Prevention is Hiring a Project Director (NKU) Near Covington, KY

The Ion Center for Violence Prevention is a non-profit agency serving 13 Kentucky counties with an important mission: providing the best care of people of all identities who have been impacted by power-based personal violence and measurably reducing the number of people who have been hurt by it. The Ion Center's identity shines in everything we do such as preventION, inclusION, compassION, protectION, interventION, collaboratION, and transformatION. All services provided to victim-survivors are free and confidential.
The Ion Center is looking for a compassionate and energetic individual that will coordinate the Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women Campus Program grant. The Project Director works with Norse Violence Prevention (NVP) and the Peer Ambassador Program at Northern Kentucky University, leads and supports the prevention efforts, manages the campus relationships with the University Police and Student Affairs, and is the co-chair of the Coordinated Community Response Team. JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Public Education and Community Engagement, coordinates the Department of Justice Office of Violence Against Women Campus Program grant.
Principal Duties And ResponsibilitiesApplies ZeroV Program Member Service Standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) Standards for survivors of rape.
Train Schools and communities in violence prevention programming
  • Collaborate with higher education departments to implement violence prevention programming in the college setting
  • Develop violence prevention campaigns reinforcing norms established by violence prevention programming
  • Tailor and adapt violence prevention programming to underserved populations
  • Practice program material to maintain mastery
  • Revise/evaluate/adjust programs and materials as needed
  • Maintain engagement and energy across all levels of the implementation community
  • Attend public education meetings
  • Maintain an understanding of the latest research and information related to prevention and power-based personal violence
Develop project collaborative structure
  • Develop and maintain a Coordinated Community Response Team (CCRT) made up of key stake holders
  • Develop an agreement, protocols, and materials for the availability of campus services for victims of crimes
  • Develop and strengthen relationships with higher education staff, students, and community partners
  • Follow Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence (KCADV) Victim Service Standards and the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Program Standards (KASAP).
Handle related administrative functions
  • Complete and submit timesheets, travel sheets, and other documents
  • Compile reports (monthly and annually) for grants, state and local funding sources
  • Complete KCADV Certification Training and all trainings required by Ion Center
  • All other duties as assigned by the CEO of Ion Center and/or the Director of Public Education and Community Engagement

QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, skills, etc.):1.Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Communications, Social Work or a related field required, Master’s Degree preferred plus relevant experience leading/designing training programs
  • Outstanding oral and visual presentation skills
  • Ability to work and lead a team in pursuit of a common goal
  • Creativity and ability to engage people through interactive programming
  • Knowledge of legal referral procedures for reporting abuse
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain high level of confidentiality
  • Ability to work under highly stressful, crisis-oriented situations
  • Skills in training, leading, organizing, advising, planning, and working independently
  • Ability to use training related equipment, such as hearing-impaired equipment, tape recorders, audience response clickers, PowerPoint, and other audio-visual equipment
  • Understanding of social media and ability to generate social media content
  • Must be a minimum age of 18
MENTAL/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WHICH OCCUR REGULARLY IN PERFORMING THE JOB:
  • Speaking, seeing, hearing, standing, writing, walking, including climbing steps, carry, pull, lift, stoop, kneel
  • Using related office equipment keyboard and monitor, camera, copier, fax, phones, etc.
  • This position may involve exposure to infectious diseases and stressful situations.
This position is grant funded through June 2025 with a chance of continuation beyond June 2025. For the duration of the current grant cycle, this position is a full-time hourly position.
