Description

The J Fitness Sports Aquatics is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual to help members improve their health and achieve their fitness goals by providing guidance, motivation and support. Assist in leading a team of personal trainers and group fitness instructors to create exercise programs customized to meet specific needs, develop strength, conditioning, and avoid injury, while providing cutting-edge instruction through a variety of entertaining, educational, and fun classes, promoting fitness and positive self-esteem in a safe environment.

The personal training department at the J has provided services to over 400 J clients annually; services include 1:1, 2:1, youth, and nutrition. With over 150 group fitness classes offered a week, we instruct a variety of group fitness formats, from teaching an upbeat cycling class, to Les Mills BodyPump, to a flowy Hot Yoga class, you will be known as a friendly, inspiring face around the J.

Essential Functions

  • Conducts Personal Training assessments and sessions to new and current clientele interested in training. Responds to member concerns in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Provide safe, effective and fun workouts to members and participants. Develop positive relationships with class participants by teaching a variety of challenging entertaining group fitness classes.
  • Handle all administrative duties for all personal training and group fitness classes - enrolling members, class count sheets, personal training sessions conducted, updating subs on the Live Calendar, check Facebook daily for member requests, maintaining Classpass account, and pulling vouchers.
  • Daily cleanliness and organization of group fitness rooms and private training studio. Manage and maintain safe, functional, and attractive equipment and coordinate the maintenance and upkeep.
  • Be available to assist with planning and implementation of Group Fitness events: Group Fitness Marathon, Les Mills Launches, Summer Sizzlers, Cycle for Good, etc.

Requirements

  • Certified Personal Trainer from ACSM, NASM, NSCA, NCCPT or ACE preferred.
  • Certified Group Fitness/Exercise instructor and experience (Les Mills, ACE, AFFA, NASM, preferred)
  • Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certified.
  • Ability to perform exercises specific to the assigned class
  • Ability to display an enthusiastic, outgoing and friendly demeanor
  • Ability to teach multiple classes including back-to-back classes
  • Be available to substitute on an on-call basis
  • Entrepreneur approach to growing program participation through innovative program offerings and high satisfaction.
  • Ability to anticipate and solve practical problems and resolve issues while maintaining accountability for results, strength is to prioritize and plan work activities, use time efficiently and develop realistic action plans.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lifts, carries, or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Stamina to perform the exercises specific to assigned classes, including back-to-back classes
  • Constant talking, hearing, eye/hand/foot coordination
  • Requires considerable amount of walking and standing throughout the day.
  • Occasional pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching
