Position Description - Full-Time, In-office, Direct Hire, Start date 1/22/24

A Group Life Billing Specialist Representative must maintain a high level of customer service at all times with Atlantic American Employee Benefits Agents, Policyholders and all internal personnel. Promote and support the IMSA Principles and Codes. Adhere to Atlantic American Corporation’s Mission, Vision, and Values statements at all times. Communicate effectively with agents, policyholders and all internal personnel using both verbal and written skills. Support the policy contracts by correctly defining policy changes as outlined in each specific policy contract for automation on the USSI system. Apply strong analytical, organizational, technical and problem-solving skills on a daily basis. Has a clear understanding of Health and Life products, procedures, compliance and principles.
Oversee technical and operational functions for AAEB Group Division with emphasis on customer service, systems training on a day-to-day basis solving issues that arise concerning the billing and applying of funds for AAEB Group Business.

Must be willing to cross-train on all department functions.

  • Establish and maintain Broker/Agent relationships, emphasizing compliance with all company standards.
  • Establish and maintain worksite groups within the electronic enrollment platform.
  • Provide in-house billing per request of client.
  • Maintain master billing files for Worksite Payroll/List Bill group; update any and all information provided on the master bill such as address; phone number; contact name. Mail bills to clients and agents; keeping master bill for AAEB records; balance bills when received with payment (additions; deletions; premium corrections) and apply premiums.
  • Contact agent/broker and or client if problem exist with bill and we are unable to determine how to handle.
  • Contact agent or client on past due premiums; contact agent and send letter to client/insured on lapsed policies.
  • When a request is received to terminate coverage on a policy, a determination is made if the policy is portable and can be kept by the client. If the policy is portable information is sent to the client requesting new address, phone number, etc. We also send information providing the different modes of payment and the forms required to be completed for the option they prefer. Clients are given 30 days from date of letter to respond.
  • Assist company representatives in researching and information gathering for various requests.
  • Return mail (research files, call policyholders and search various web sites to locate new addresses for returned PHS mail and Claims returned Explanation of Benefits)(web site search will include searching on SS# to determine if policyholder is deceased. If policyholder is deceased, they will attempt to find an address for the beneficiary to give to Claims department). We will also use Accurint for current address.
  • Provide assistance as needed for Policyholder Service Phone Unit and on special projects.

Position Requirements-

· Loma ACS Certification- Preferred

· Ability to apply concepts of basic math principles to calculate discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, etc.

· Ability to define problems, collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions.

· Ability to apply rues of policy contracts to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form

· Ability to deal with problems involving variables.

· Communicate with other in and outside of the company

· Ability to work in high-pressure situations
