Job Summary:The Senior Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.
- Prepares monthly journal entries and related income statements.
- Reconciles bank accounts monthly, verifying deposits and outstanding checks.
- Process fund disbursement checks from benefits system.
- Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to set priorities and manage time effectively.
- Strong analytical skills and advanced skills in Excel.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite applications and accounting software such as QuickBooks.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field, required.
- At least 5 years of related experience required.
