The Site Supervisor receives sufficient authority from and is accountable to the Regional Manager or appointed designate for the successful completion of assigned duties and responsibilities. Ensure the Grain Inspection Laboratory operates efficiently, and client needs are met. Perform/assign functions, and duties, and ensure all are performed in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner, acts as a senior inspector, ensures proper flow of sample testing through the facility, perform test analysis, and may assign test samples to others, if applicable. All tests are to be performed by accepted industry practices, responsible for accuracy in reporting results, and information to Client and Eurofins Division office.
A full understanding of inspecting grain. Managing a location is understanding the why (reason, purpose, or cause) and why not. This position dictates an understanding of client’s needs and the ability to act to satisfy their needs.
This position is the acting manager and responsible person of the respective site. It is expected that the Site Supervisors conduct themselves in such a manner of utmost integrity while on and off the job.
Responsibilities: Supervises day-to-day operation of the Inspection Facility.Act as primary liaison between Eurofins and Client. Share relevant daily operational information with the respective regional manager and client.Train and supervise Grain Inspectors in all aspects of grain grading, including sampling, dividing, and all factors in determining a grade.Explain the procedure according to FGIS standards, the ability to explain procedures with understanding.Responsible for accuracy in reporting results; record test results and provide information to the client of grain truck driver.Represent Eurofins Grain Inspection to client company by acting as a liaison between facility and client grain company merchandisers.Demonstrate ability to operate all required basic lab equipment per USDA grain standards.Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers.Remain current on technical, industry, and business advancements and trends as suggested by the regional or divisional leaders.Recommend more accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures.Maintain cooperative working relationships with all company employees.
Communicate orally and in writing to co-workers. Promote the company image through the exercising of sound and ethical business practices related to the public and our customers.Relay information to the grain operations manager for proper action.Process necessary paperwork required by the client company and Eurofins Grain Inspection.Test samples of grain by accepted industry practice using visual procedure and computerized equipment, test sample for weight, moisture, foreign material, and damage, including potential mycotoxin and non-GMO testing.Adhere to, and ensure that staff adheres to, pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations relative to the department; maintain and assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.Supervise general site operations, interface with site leads; provide guidance on procedures and/or troubleshooting, analysis methods, techniques, equipment, and schedules.Perform the functions of hiring, training, promotions, and disciplinary issues for department personnel, handle employee relation issues as per company guidelines and with the support of Human Resources.Perform performance reviews for direct reporting personnel.Performs other duties, activities, and projects as assigned by the regional manager.
Required Qualities/Profile Personal Qualities/ProfileExcellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.Responsive, independent problem solver and action oriented.Responsive to clients’ safety and PPE requirements.Excellent computer skills; Fluent in Microsoft suite programs (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).Occasional travel to support other local Eurofins Grain Inspection sites (5%).Initial Education BackgroundHigh school diploma or GED.Physical RequirementsThe physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
