The Kennedy Group is Hiring a QMHP-C IHH/TDT Near Hampton, VA

Position Description

Under the supervision of the Program Director, Qualified Mental Health Provider (QMHP) will provide direct services which provides, structure, support, and services to individuals receiving services from The Kennedy Group, LLC. These services are provided in accordance with Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Sciences, Department of Medical Assistance Services and The Kennedy Group, LLC policies and procedures.

Position Qualifications

QMHP shall have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services related field and one year of clinical experience working directly with individuals identified as part of the target population in a setting where mental health treatment, practice, observation or diagnosis occur. Must be QMHP-C certified or eligible.

Knowledge

QMHP must have proficient knowledge in the following areas: the causes and symptoms of mental health issues, prevention strategies, needs and risk assessment, substance abuse, family dynamics, the impact of trauma, an understanding of crisis management and the ability to deal with life threatening situations including the prevention of suicide, case management and confidential record keeping practices, individual, group, and crisis counselling methods, program management and delivery, program evaluation, and ability to speak.

Skills

QMHP should have at least the minimum skills listed below: Active Listening--- Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Social Perceptiveness--- Being aware of others’ reactions and understanding why they react as they do. Service orientation--- Actively looking for ways to help people. Speaking--- Talking to others to convey information effectively. Critical thinking--- Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Abilities

QMHP should have at least the minimum abilities listed below:

Oral Comprehension--- The ability to listen and understand information and ideas presented through spoken works and sentences. Oral Expression--- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand. Problem sensitivity--- The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Inductive Reasoning--- The ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (includes finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). Written Comprehension--- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.

Position Responsibilities

A. Provide direct services to identified individual

B. Assists in planning of services

C. Provides parent education and support

D. Plan and implement cognitive behavioral programming

E. Planning and implementing individualized behavior modification programs and monitoring progress through collaboration with school personnel, family and others involved in the individual’s treatment

F. Provides a variety of interventions in individual’s school, home and community as appropriate and necessary. These interventions may be behavioral, social and recreational, as needed

G. Provides linkage to community-based services and supports, provides advocacy and support for family with these services

H. Coordinates scheduling of appointments, as needed

I. Coordinates and provides transportation, as needed

J. Available for 24-hour crisis intervention and family support

K. Is responsible for the proper and timely documentation (ie. Quarterlies, ISP, Continued Stays, Progress notes, Discharge instructions, Discharge Summaries) of all information required by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Department of Medical Assistance Services and by The Kennedy Group, LLC.

L. Maintains confidentiality of records relating to consumer’s treatment.

M. Evaluates the effectiveness of counseling programs and clients’ progress in resolving identified problems and moving towards defined objectives.

N. Maintains regular and ongoing contact with referring agencies, as well as other agencies involved in individual and family cases

O. Maintains weekly contact either in person or by telephone

P. Actively coordinates and plan discharge and aftercare plan with referring agency

Q. Attends interagency meetings, as required

R. Attends and participates in team meetings

S. Attend and participate in orientation, in-service training, and conferences as scheduled

T. Performs other duties as assigned
