Compliance Coordinator

Our client is a venture capital firm based in New York City (SoHo). The company invests in internet, software, and technology-enabled companies through early and late-stage ventures and seed financings. Their recent investments in women and black-owned companies demonstrate their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The growing firm is seeking a Compliance Coordinator to join their team.

THE POSITION

• Manage and monitor employee personal securities trading, political contribution requests, gifts and entertainment requests, private investment requests and outside business activities via a compliance software program (StarCompliance).
• Perform confidential background checks of potential investors and company founder.
• Assist with compliance training for all employees and departments.
• Monitor, analyze, and report compliance issues related to electronic communication surveillance including conducting internal audits as needed.
• Backfill and update databases.
• Oversee relationships with and work product of third-party service providers.
• Participate in and implement problem solving around complex regulatory questions.
• Assist with regulatory audits.
• Reviewing and monitoring AML/KYC alerts to ensure compliance with the Firm’s policies and procedures.
• Identify areas for improved efficiency and implementing creative solutions.
• Other administrative tasks and projects as may be assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 1 to 5 years of compliance experience in venture capital or private equity firms or the support of a corporate law practice.
• Intellectual curiosity, solutions focus and excellent communications skills.
• Ability to work well with others on a small team.
• Ability to think on your feet and confidence to speak about your ideas on a team full of intelligent peers.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ambitious and self-driven.
• Thrives in rapidly changing environments and can also consistently engage in routine or redundant tasks.
• Track record managing and prioritizing numerous tasks and competing priorities.
• Ability to learn and utilize new software quickly.

This position is expected to work in-office every day with the potential for remote work on Fridays after a successful training period.

COMPENSATION

$85,000 - $120,000/year DOE Bonus
