DescriptionThe School Social Worker and Whole Child Coordinator is responsible for providing comprehensive social work services to students, while also developing and implementing holistic programs that support their overall well-being and academic success. This dual-role professional addresses individual and systemic barriers to learning, ensuring that students are healthy, safe, engaged, supported, and challenged.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include The Following.
  • Individual and Group Support:
    • Provide individual and group counseling to students with social, emotional, and behavioral issues.
    • Conduct assessments to identify students’ needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
    • Offer crisis intervention and support during emergencies.
  • Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
    • Work with families to address home-related challenges that affect student performance.
    • Coordinate with community resources and services to support students and families.
  • Program Development and Implementation:
    • Develop and oversee school-wide programs and initiatives that address students’ physical, emotional, social, and academic needs.
    • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of whole-child initiatives and adjust strategies as needed.
    • Organize and lead school-wide events and activities that promote student well-being and engagement.
  • Professional Development and Advocacy:
    • Conduct workshops and training sessions for staff, parents, and students on relevant topics.
    • Advocate for resources and policies that support a holistic approach to education.
    • Coordinate professional development for staff on topics related to the whole child approach.
  • Data and Reporting:
    • Collect and analyze data to identify areas of need and track the progress of whole-child initiatives.
    • Maintain accurate records of services provided and prepare reports as required.
    • Communicate regularly with stakeholders to keep them informed about whole-child efforts and progress.
RequirementsQualifications:
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited institution.
  • State licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or equivalent.
  • Experience in educational program development and implementation.
  • Strong understanding of child development, social-emotional learning, and family dynamics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
