The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning... is Hiring an Administrative Assistant III (11509, Grade CO6) Near Prince, MD

Description

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division, is seeking a highly skilled administrative professional to provide full-performance administrative office support work. This administrative support position falls within the Administrative Unit and reports directly to the Administrative Supervisor. The ideal candidate will control workflow and establish office procedures in support of the Arts and Cultural Heritage Division, staff, and assigned work unit. The major/main performance tasks include but are not limited to, reviewing and processing documents and materials for human resources, administrative, and financial support.
Please Note: The salary range listed above shows the earning potential for this position. The budgeted salary range for this position is $45,815-$63,479. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Examples of Important Duties

This position will be responsible for the financial data system to include the processing of purchase requests, i.e. field purchase requisitions, purchase orders, central purchase requisitions, as well as check requests. Establish and maintain bookkeeping records of assigned work units. Responsible for the confidential processing of seasonal intermittent personnel actions and performance evaluations; maintain personnel files. Monitor evaluation tracking system and advise unit managers/supervisors of due dates for timely submission. Act as admin signoff on seasonal intermittent timecards.
Uses spreadsheet software to enter data. Compiles data to assist supervisor in drafting or preparing correspondence, memoranda, reports, etc. as required. Also, will serve as a receptionist with responsibility for answering questions, providing information, or directing requests to appropriate individual. You may also be responsible for fulfilling requests for information, which may include the release of sensitive or confidential data as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications

1. High school diploma or a Certificate of General Educational Development (GED).
2. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience that includes at least two (2) years in administrative and clerical support work and at least one (1) year of technical support experience in the administrative management areas of the specific position to be filled.
3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which together total 4 years.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Data entry, tracking, and compilation skills for report creation
  • Proficient in operation of office machines (multi-line phones, Xerox, fax, computer, etc.)
  • Ability to work with and in a team to support work program/unit
This is a Union position.
Working Conditions:
Works in an office setting may work outdoors briefly on an incidental basis. Work is primarily sedentary and requires very light to light physical effort; may require greater physical effort on an incidental basis. May be subject to various job demands such as a high volume of work and tight deadlines.
