QUALITY TECHNICIAN

Established ISO 9001: 2015 & IATF 16949: 2016 certified supplier of washers and stampings is seeking an individual with previous quality control experience.

The successful applicant will be responsible for planning, coordinating and directing quality control programs designated to ensure continuous production of products consistent with established standards.

Other responsibilities will include the following tasks:

  • Perform inspections on incoming outside vendor processes and advise Quality Manager of any non conforming product.
  • Maintain a gauge calibration and recall system.
  • Maintain calibration standards traceable to NIST from which all in-house test and measurement equipment are subsequently calibrated.
  • Perform gauge R&R’s when new gauges are purchased and released for use or per customer requirements.
  • Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality expectations of finished product.
  • Formulates and maintains quality control objectives complimentary to corporate policies and goals.
  • Assists the Quality Assurance Manager in the administration/preparation of PPAP documentation for customers.
  • Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other department managers to maximize product quality and minimize costs.
  • Works with Purchasing, as required, to insure quality of purchased parts or services for company use.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality standards.
  • Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures as required.
  • Performs 1st and last inspection on parts being produced.
  • Develops and maintains inspection instructions as required.

Education and/or experience:

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Three to five years quality control experience.
  • CMM experience preferred.
  • ISO/IATF experience a plus.
  • CQT (Certified Quality Technician) preferred.
  • CQI (Certified Quality Inspector) preferred.

Preferred Skills and abilities:

  • Excellent blueprint reading skills.
  • Geometric dimension and tolerance expertise.
  • Should have a broad general knowledge of the metal stamping industry.
  • Detailed knowledge of quality activities in the metal stamping industry, particularly current product testing techniques and knowledge of inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of the quality field in general being alert to items useful for the metal stamping industry.
  • Computer literacy - Windows, Proficiency in Open Office or MS Office applications required (including spreadsheets & word processing).
  • Ability to work well with all employees.
  • Ability to prioritize projects/workload.

Qualified candidates are required to pass physical and background screening to be considered for this position.

Scheduled working hours will be from 6 am to 4:30 pm, Mon. thru Thurs.. Overtime on Friday should work conditions warrant it. Starting rate of pay will be $18.50-21.50 pr. hr., depending on skill set and experience at the time of hire.
