The Methodist Home for Children and Youth is Hiring an Employee Relations Specialist Near Macon, GA

The Methodist Home has been restoring childhoods, strengthening families and building people for over 150 years. We are looking for people who would like to help us achieve our mission to provide healing and hope to children and families.

The Methodist Home is currently seeking to fill a Full Time Employee Relations Specialist position. The Employee Relations Specialist is responsible for developing recruiting and retention strategies in support of organizational staffing objectives as well as executing recruiting and retention strategies to deliver suitable job candidates for assigned positions as well as increase retention and satisfaction of existing employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop and implement recruiting plans working with managers to assist in forecasting for human resources needs including employees, volunteers and interns.
  • Conduct regular follow up meetings with managers to determine the effectiveness of recruiting plans.
  • In conjunction with managers and in coordination with regulations evaluate and revise if necessary recruitment and selection criteria.
  • Recruit for all levels of positions for all regions placing advertisements, maintaining internal job postings, etc.
  • Develop a pool of qualified candidates in advance of need.
  • Manage the internal hiring process.
  • Coordinate and implement college recruiting initiatives.
  • Work with marketing and with managers to develop a reputation of employer of choice both internally and externally.
  • Maintain contact with possible future candidates.
  • Coordinate the completion of all application packets to include references checks, employment checks, various database checks, etc.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements include but are not limited to the following:

  • Minimum of a high school diploma, Bachelors Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in recruiting, interviewing, public speaking/engagement, etc.
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, and training.
  • Proficient computer knowledge to include Microsoft Office, web based programs, Internet, E-mail.
  • Demonstrated skills in recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Excellent organization skills.

Required Safety/Background Checks: All applicants must consent, and receive clearance from the following local, state and national agencies:

Bibb County Sheriff's Department

Department of Human Services and Department of Juvenile Justice(fingerprint required)

Motor Vehicle Record (must have a valid license for four consecutive years and applicant/driving record must be approved by our insurance carrier)

Child Abuse Registry, Department of Corrections, Pardons and Parole, Sex Offenders Registry, Medicaid Fraud

All employees must also pass a pre-employment physical, ten panel drug screen and TB skin test
