GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:The Met’s membership program is one of the largest in the world and includes more than 130,000 loyal members from around the globe. Members give $110 to $50,000 annually. The program is in a period of rapid growth and change, as it rebounds from the pandemic; innovates its operations; and prioritizes diversity, inclusion, equity, and access. Reporting to the Manager of Membership Communication, you will support the development and implementation of the Membership Communications Strategy by assisting in the planning and logistics of digital and print communications. You will help shape Member communications to encourage Member engagement and visitation. You will help craft compelling messages that share the creativity, inspiration, and ideas present in The Met’s exhibitions and programming to the Member base.
You are a strong communicator that identifies solutions and implements tools and processes that increase efficiency and effectiveness. You have excellent organizational skills and can manage multiple, logistically complex projects simultaneously within a museum setting.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Support the implementation of a comprehensive communications strategy that supports the goals and initiatives of the Membership team.
  • Ensure timely completion of print, digital, social media, web, and video communications, facilitating communication and information flow between stakeholders, including Marketing, Design, Development, Retail, Education, Visitor Experience, and Institutional Advancement Operations.
  • Partner with the Membership Events team to draft and proof copy for Member event web postings.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of the Membership team’s voice in external and internal communications by becoming an expert in The Met’s written and visual style guidelines and proofreading all Membership communications.
  • Oversee research, writing, and production of content for the Membership Team’s @metmembers social media account. Strategize ideas based on current exhibitions and Membership initiatives with the Manager of Membership Communication.
  • Manage production timelines for engagement campaigns. Assist in maintenance of teamwide communications calendar.
  • Serve as liaison with external vendors (mail houses) for quarterly What’s On, annual Holiday Card, and ad hoc projects. Review mail proofs against Membership database to ensure data accuracy.
  • Manage list and segmentation requests, as directed, and collate image assets and approvals.
  • Proactively track and analyze email campaign performance to make recommendations and help identify new opportunities for dynamic Membership communications.
  • Manage onsite stock of Membership collateral, such as Member and Patron brochures, in partnership with Visitor Experience team.
  • Perform administrative tasks, Member event support, and other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of two years of related experience working in development, membership, marketing, or communications; email marketing experience preferred.
  • Full command of the Microsoft Office Suite and solid computer skills
  • General understanding of how fundraising databases function and interest/aptitude in learning CRM systems
  • Organizational and communications skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrated writing skills, including the ability to write succinctly, and proofread materials for online and print publication.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues; assessing when to escalate to management.
  • Must be able to work in a collaborative team environment, but also independently as needed.
COMPENSATION RANGE:
  • Pay Rate: $33.00 / Hourly

Location RequirementsAt time of employment, employees are expected to be located within commuting distance of the Museum. “Commuting distance” means that they are located in one of following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, or Pennsylvania (the “Tri-state and PA” areas), and be able to commute to and from the Museum in a single day.
