Under general supervision, the Maintenance Worker II must be a self-starter and will be responsible for the following job duties: Metal working; welding (stainless steel) and constructing sheet metal fabrications. Service, maintain and repair commercial/industrial (HVAC) air handling equipment. Perform architectural work; renovations, painting, carpentry, building, electrical repairs and preventive maintenance to building structures. Service and repair commercial refrigeration equipment and perform all other related duties and tasks as required or assigned.
Work Schedule is Tuesday - Saturday from 6:30 am - 3:00 pm.
Requires a GED or high school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of directly-related maintenance experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience from with comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained. Trades licenses/certifications; EPA Universal certification, electrical, plumbing experience, HVAC-R will be considered a plus for this position.
Must have demonstrated skills in general maintenance and be able to troubleshoot and repair a wide variety of maintenance problems. This position requires the ability to complete associated paperwork and work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be highly motivated with good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team. Requires computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
A Post-offer background check and the ability to gain and maintain access to Kirtland Air Force base (KAFB) is required.
Relocation may be offered for this position.
Work is performed in a variety of settings including office and laboratory environments, as well as in outdoor areas. Will frequently stand, walk, sit, kneel, crawl, climb (ladders, scaffolds, etc.), reach/work overhead, frequently lift/carry/push/pull heavy objects that weigh up to 50 pounds and perform desk-based computer tasks. Will wear personal protective equipment which may include a respirator.
